Teaching Expectations. A GSEAU’s teaching shall be guided by the course description and syllabus, requirements of excellent teaching, adherence to academic and professional standards, and encouragement of the spirit of inquiry among students. GSEAUs shall prepare for their classes and conduct them in an appropriately professional manner. GSEAUs are responsible for the maintenance of good order and the observance of American University regulations in the classroom. GSEAUs shall meet classes on time, hold classes for the full period except in the event of an emergency or as an approved practice by the Department or Program Chair, and evaluate academic performance fairly and reasonably.
