Teaching Loads. A. The normal weekly teaching load for teachers at the secondary level shall consist of twenty-five (25) periods of instruction per week and no more than 300 minutes per day of teacher student contact time if needed to comply with State mandates. Due to the scheduling of high school students for a six and one-half (6 1/2) hour school day, every high school teacher shall be scheduled to perform certain supervisory duties not exceeding twenty-five (25) minutes per scheduled day as part of their preparation period on an equal rotating staggered basis for a total amount of days not to exceed five (5) weeks per semester. Student contact time and preparation time for the Xxxxxxxx Center, Xxxxxxxxx X. Xxxxxx Center, and Juvenile Justice Center will be comparable to that of the high school teachers. The start and end times of the Xxxxxxxx Center teachers may be flexed as necessary to accommodate the length of the school day. Student contact time at the elementary level shall not exceed 335 minutes per day for the grades kindergarten through grade five (5) and pre-school. Teachers at the elementary level shall be guaranteed a minimum of three hundred (300) minutes of preparation time per week. At the middle school and elementary school levels, scheduled duties (i.e. bus, hall, bulletin boards) will be equally rotated among all regular teachers in the individual buildings. Preparation time at all levels will be equalized for half days to the extent possible. If the district proposes restructuring of the school day at any level within the district, they will notify the Association and a committee will be formed with representation from the Association and Administration to study alternatives and make recommendations. Association representatives will be appointed by the Association. If the Association and Board concur with the recommendations, a Letter of Agreement will ensue. All teachers will receive a copy of the scheduled duty times of their school staff. The teacher’s work time at the end of the regular student day will not be used for duties and building staff meetings unless specified by contract. Preparation time lost at the end of the day due to supplementary duties is exempt from make up time. B. In the secondary schools, each teacher shall be allowed no less than one (1) preparation period per day (the equivalent of one class period in length) as part of the recognized daily schedule, except during weeks of State testing. Teaching Loads. The range of teaching loads, number of preparations and number of pupil contacts required should provide for effective instruction and meaningful teacher-student interaction. DPS and the Association agree to work together to seek increased state funding to decrease class size. The principal shall report to the CSC, after the roster verification process, the number of students in each class and this will be published in the CSC minutes on the school’s website. For the purposes of this section, a “class” shall be defined as any general education, including electives and model one classes. Upon request, after the roster verification process, the District shall provide the Association with the student information management system data regarding class enrollment.
Teaching Loads. The elementary specials teachers’ (music, physical education and art) workloads shall be 45 to 48 thirty (30) minute sections of instruction per week and 42 to 44 thirty (30) minute sections of instruction per week for those on a cart. Teaching Loads. 1. The District will attempt to maintain balanced class sizes within buildings at all levels. a. Administration will discuss the HS and MS Master Schedule with the Association prior to the beginning of each semester. b. In order for a class to be included in the final master schedule, 60% of the contract class size maximum is preferred when it makes sense economically or academically. c. At the secondary and intermediate levels, imbalances of greater than three (3) students in the same hour of the same course, can occur if the student: 1) hasn't met the prerequisite, 2) moved away, 3) has a required class and the student previously failed the class with this teacher, 4) drops the class for the entire year. Imbalances for other reasons may be considered in a meeting with the Association President (or designee), the HR Assistant Superintendent, the counselor, the affected teachers, and the Principal. If a consensus cannot be reached at the meeting, a vote will be taken to decide the matter. If the imbalance is created without following this procedure, the consequence, paid to the teacher is $300 per student per semester or $600 per student for both semesters. 2. Effective on the fourth Wednesday after the beginning of the school year (“Fourth Wednesday”), classroom maximum* shall be: Jr. Kindergarten: 20 students Kindergarten: 24 students * These maximums will apply to elementary specials class size. 3. a. At the Intermediate level elective classes may have a daily average of 165. In the event that this number is going to be exceeded a meeting between the principal, teacher, superintended/designee, and XXX president/designee will be held to review options. Teaching LoadsSection 6.1 Each teacher in the Middle School and Senior High School will be normally scheduled for the equivalent of five preparation periods per week. If a teacher at any grade level is regularly assigned a class during his/her preparation period, he/she will be compensated at the correct percentage of his/her base salary. Section 6.2 The Board agrees at all times to maintain a list of substitute teachers. Teachers shall be informed of a telephone number they may call at least one and one-half (1½) hours before school except in any emergency to report unavailability; it shall be the responsibility of the Administration to arrange for a substitute teacher when feasible. Section 6.3 Employees who perform administrative duties shall be compensated for such work. The Superintendent and the OEA President will negotiate compensation on a case by case basis. Section 6.4 Special education teachers who are requested to assist with academic scheduling shall be provided released time for that purpose or compensated at the rate specified in Section 6.1 if the work is performed outside of regular duty hours.
Teaching Loads. Full-time faculty with the titleClinical Instructor” shall normally have a teaching load of 18 course credit hours (without regard to type of course) per academic year. Full-time clinical faculty in the progressive ranks of Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, and Clinical Professor shall have a baseline teaching load of 16 course credit hours per year; however, no faculty member shall be assigned more than 4 credit hours of clinical instruction per semester unless by mutual agreement. Individual faculty may negotiate with the Xxxx teaching loads less than 16 course credit hours by using grant funds to buy out their time or by providing other valuable service to the College of Nursing (such as Director of the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program or Clinical Coordinator).

The normal teaching load of all regular 6-12 secondary classroom teachers for the 2015-16 school year consists of a teaching assignment of five (5) class periods, ELC, and one(1) preparation period, consistent with the provisions of Article V, Section A. B. The normal teaching load of the regular K-5 classroom teachers will be based on the teaching grade assignment. C. The Association agrees that bargaining unit members shall meet state and federal standards for certification and qualifications. D. The administration agrees to provide all teachers with tentative teaching schedules/assignments on or before May 20 of each school year. Individual teachers may request a voluntary transfer any time prior to August 1; such teachers must submit the request in writing to the appropriate administrator by August 1 of each school year. E. Employees requested to substitute for other bargaining unit members during their daily preparation period can voluntarily agree to accept such duty to cover another teacher's absence from class. In the event there is no volunteer available and it becomes necessary for the appropriate building administrator to assign another teacher to cover an absent teacher's class, he/she will be reimbursed at the extra duty rate per class. Reimbursement for a fractional class period will be prorated based on actual time spent in the classroom. F. Bargaining unit members and administrators shall be mutually responsible for creating and maintaining conditions conducive to learning and the maintenance of discipline. G. On the second Thursday of September, December, March, and May, at 3:30 p.m. in the district office, the Association Executive Committee and administration, including the superintendent, will meet to address Master agreement issues, current or anticipated. The superintendent of schools will send a reminder e-mail one week ahead of time asking for agenda items to be returned to him/her. On the Monday preceding the meeting day, the superintendent will e-mail a copy of the agenda to each member of the Quarterly Conference Team, or e-mail a cancellation notice if no items are received 48 hours before the start of the meeting. Minutes will go to Association members, Administration and all Board members. The District is responsible for recording and distribution of the approved minutes. H.
