Temporary Appointments to a Higher Classification. The Executive Director may assign an employee to work in a higher class provided the employee meets the minimum qualifications for the assignment. Such assignments shall be in writing and shall indicate the reasons, length and duties of the assignment. To be eligible for higher-class pay, the employee must work a minimum of one day in the higher classification, meet the minimum qualifications, and perform the duties of the higher class.   • Temporary Appointments A) The Employer may make a temporary appointment, without posting, to a vacant position provided such position is one in which the former incumbent has terminated employment with the Employer. The temporary appointment shall not exceed thirty (30) work days, unless the Union and the Employer mutually agree to extend this time limit.

  • Promotion to a Higher Classification An employee who is promoted to a higher rated classification within the bargaining unit will be placed in the range of the higher rated classification so that he shall receive no less an increase in wage rate than the equivalent of one step in the wage rate of his previous classification (provided that he does not exceed the wage rate of the classification to which he has been promoted).

  • Temporary Appointment The period of County Service of an appointee to a temporary position, subsequently appointed to a permanent position in the same class without a break in service, shall not be included in computing the probationary period.

  • Regular Appointment The authorized appointment of an individual to a position covered by Civil Service.

  • Work in a Higher Classification Any employee who is assigned by his/her supervisor to a vacant position in a higher grade for a period of more than thirty (30) days shall receive the salary rate for the higher position from the first day of the appointment, provided such assignment has the prior approval in writing of the Appointing Authority or his/her designee. The approval of the Appointing Authority or his/her designee shall take effect as of the first day of the assignment. Any assignment to a vacant position in a higher grade must be in writing to be valid.

  • Termination of Probationary Appointment (a) The Employer may terminate a probationary appointment at any time.

  • Work in Higher Classification Employees working in a higher classification for more than four (4) hours in duration shall be paid at the higher rate of pay for the entire shift.

  • Assignment of Duties From Another Classification Where the Hospital revises the job content of an existing classification in such a manner that duties of another classification are assigned to it, the following shall apply:

An employee or officer who is a permanent appointee following completion of the probationary period or six months of permanent service, and who is appointed to a position in a higher classification, either permanent or temporary, deemed to be promotive by the Department of Human Resources shall have his/her salary adjusted to that step in the promotive class as follows:
