Temporary traffic control facilities. The service provider shall provide, erect and maintain the necessary traffic-control devices, road signs, channelisation devices, barricades, warning devices and road markings (hereinafter referred to as traffic-control facilities), as shown in the South African Road Traffic Signs Manual (SARTSM), and shall remove them when no longer required. It shall be incumbent upon the service provider to see to it that the above-mentioned traffic-control facilities are present at all times and are functioning properly. The service provider shall indemnify the employer against all proceedings, claims, actions, damages and costs which may arise from or be related to the absence or improper functioning or placement of traffic-control facilities. No claims will be considered for delays or inconvenience caused by the accommodation of traffic requirements. The type of construction, spacing and placement of traffic-control facilities shall be in accordance with the prescriptions and recommendation of the latest edition of SARTSM. The traffic shall be accommodated on the existing surfaced carriageway and shoulders. No bypasses or temporary deviations shall be constructed. Accommodation of traffic will generally be carried out by closing off one lane of traffic at a time and accommodating the traffic on the other lane(s).
