Common use of Time Off for Union Activities/Other Union Business Clause in Contracts

Time Off for Union Activities/Other Union Business. The Employer may grant a leave of absence of up to five working days, without pay, to not more than two employees at any one time for the purpose of attending Union conventions or for other legitimate Union business (including seminars; workshops or; attending to Union business outside the workplace). The employees so selected shall however, not be a part of the same territory operation. Such leaves of absence shall not exceed a total of ten working days in aggregate for the bargaining unit in each calendar year and must be applied for in writing two weeks prior to commencement of the requested leave, or so far in advance as is feasible, in order that arrangements might be made for the proper operation of the service.
