Timing of Vacation Leave. Earned vacation shall be taken when school is not in session whenever possible and shall be on the basis of seniority within each building or department. All vacation must be taken within the assigned work year. However, where the employee has earned vacation pay in excess of the time that is available within recess periods or breaks, or where the employee is required to work during recess periods or breaks, vacation time may be taken at other times in addition to recess periods and breaks. Such arrangements must have the approval of the building principal and department head.
