Uniform Allowance. 23.01 All newly hired probationary employees shall be provided a sufficient number of uniforms as determined by the Employer within thirty (30) days of his date of appointment, providing such uniforms remain the Employer's property and are returned to the Employer if the employee fails to complete his probationary period. The Union shall provide the Employer with three (3) approved vendors which employees must utilize to obtain bulletproof vests. This provision is effective upon execution of the Agreement in 2007. Employees not requesting such a contribution shall not be required to wear a vest, provided such employees sign a waiver attesting to their knowledge and rejection of such contribution and releasing the Employer from any liability resulting therefrom.

22.6 Members of the bargaining unit shall receive an annual uniform maintenance allowance of six hundred twenty-five dollars ($625.00). All payments shall be of equal amounts to be paid quarterly on or by the following dates: March 1st, June 1st, September 1st and are returned December 1st. All appropriate taxes and deductions will be taken before a check is issued.
22.7 In addition to the uniform maintenance allowance, detectives will receive an annual plain clothes allowance of four hundred fifty dollars ($450.00). This payment shall be of equal amounts to be paid quarterly on or by the following dates: March 1st, June 1st, September 1st and December 1st. All appropriate taxes and deductions will be taken before check is issued.
22.8 In the event the Employer if the employee fails to complete his probationary period. f) If, in any service or facility, the uniforms remain of an employee are not laundered at the Employer's property and are returned expense of the employer, the sum per week set out in Item 16 of Schedule B.2 to this Agreement shall be paid to the Employer if said employee. Provided that the payment of such laundry allowance shall not be made to any employee fails on absences exceeding one week.
g) An employee who works less than thirty‐eight hours per week shall be entitled to complete his probationary periodthe allowances prescribed by this clause in the same proportion as the average hours worked each week bears to thirty‐eight ordinary hours.
h) Each employee whose duties require them to work out of doors shall be supplied with over boots. Upon completion of Sufficient raincoats shall also be made available for use by these employees.
i) Each employee whose duties require them to work in a hazardous situation with or near machinery shall be supplied with appropriate protective clothing and equipment.
j) For employees engaged in community care services the probationary periodfollowing shall apply:
(i) On request, the employee employer shall receive a uniform allowance supply free of charge two sets of full body aprons or other attire as agreed by the employer and payable as set forth in Section 23.02.
23.02 Each non-probationary employee shall receive a uniform allowance in the amount of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) each year of the Agreement, payable in equal increments in first pay period in January and first pay period in July each calendar year.
23.03 Items of equipment or clothing necessary to job performance which are damaged, lost or destroyed while on duty that belong to the employee;
(ii) The attire supplied in (i) above, shall be replaced or repaired by the employer on the basis of fair wear and tear;
(iii) The attire supplied in (i) above, shall remain the property of the employer at all times and any employee applying for a new issue supplied by the employer who fails to return their last issue shall not be entitled to a new issue without payment thereof;
(iv) All new employees at time of engagement and all existing employees at the Employer's expense, not to exceed One Hundred Fifty Dollars ($150.00) per man, per year, and only after approval time of the Chief and the Safety Director. Items next issue of clothing or equipment paid for by the Employer through an individual's purchase order shall be exempt from this provision.
23.04 Any employee assigned motorcycle duty or to the S.E.B. unit shall be paid Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) in additional uniform allowance.
23.05 The Employer shall contribute up to Eight Hundred Fifty Dollars ($850.00) towards the cost of individual bullet proof vests providing that such individual(s) receiving such contribution shall uniforms may be required to wear sign an authorisation permitting the vest or refund employer to deduct the value of uniforms and/or employer property from termination monies if the uniform and/or employer's property is not returned. Employer property is property personally given to an employee and where such monies property can reasonably be expected to remain in the Employer. Vests will be replaced every five employee's personal control;

The city will provide and replace, payable as needed through damage and fair wear and tear, each employee engaged in equal increments in first fire fighting duties with at least the following: one (1) fire helmet and face shield; one (1) turn-out coat and liner; one (1) pair bunker pants with boots; two (2) pair of gloves; one (1) Nomex hood. Approved boots purchased by an individual for duty wear will only be reimbursed for replacement at a cost the department would normally pay period in January and first pay period in July each calendar yearfor department issued boots.
23.03 Items of 2. 23.05 The Employer shall contribute up to Eight Hundred Fifty Dollars ($850.00) towards the cost of individual bullet proof vests providing that such individual(s) receiving such contribution 4. Employees shall be required to wear the vest or refund such monies regular uniform while on duty and be required to the Employer. Vests will be replaced every five (5) years or as approved by the Employer. The Union shall provide the Employer with appear for inspection up to three (3) approved vendors which employees must utilize to obtain bulletproof vests. This provision is effective upon execution times per fiscal year at the discretion of the Agreement in 2007chief. Employees not requesting (Occasions such a contribution as funerals, parades, etc., shall not be required counted as a permitted call for inspection.) Each employee shall have two complete uniforms; one that is being worn and the other in the employee’s locker. Uniform Allowance. 23.01 All newly hired probationary employees (a) Subject to sub-clause (c) of this sub-clause, sufficient suitable and serviceable uniforms or overalls shall be provided supplied free of cost, to each employee required to wear them. An employee to whom a sufficient number new uniform or part of uniforms as determined a uniform has been supplied by the Employer within thirty organisation, who fails to return the corresponding article last supplied, shall not be entitled to have such article replaced without payment for it at a reasonable price, in the absence of a satisfactory reason for the loss of such article or failure to produce such uniform or part thereof.
(30b) days Upon termination, an employee shall return any uniform or part thereof supplied by the organisation, which is still in use by the employee, immediately prior to leaving.
(c) In lieu of his date supplying a uniform where required to an employee, the employer shall pay the employee the weekly allowance set out in Item 11 of appointmentTable 2 of Schedule B to this Agreement.
(d) In lieu of supplying special-type shoes where required to an employee, providing such the employer shall pay the employee the weekly allowance set out in Item 12 of Table 2 of Schedule B to this Agreement.
(e) In lieu of supplying a cardigan or jacket where required to an employee the employer shall pay the employee the weekly allowance set out in Item 13 of Table 2 of Schedule B to this Agreement.
(f) In lieu of supplying stockings where required to a female employee the employer shall pay the employee the weekly allowance set out in Item 14 of Table 2 of Schedule B to this Agreement.
(g) In lieu of supplying socks where required to an employee the employer shall pay the employee the weekly allowance set out in Item 15 of Table 2 of Schedule B to this Agreement.
(h) If, in any facility, the uniforms remain of an employee are not laundered at the Employer's property and are returned expense of the facility, the sum per week set out in Item 16 of Table 2 of Schedule B to this Agreement shall be paid to the Employer if said employee. Provided that the payment of such laundry allowance shall not be made to any employee fails on absences exceeding one week.
(i) An employee who works less than 38 hours per week shall be entitled to complete his probationary periodthe allowances prescribed by this clause in the same proportion as the average hours worked each week bears to 38 ordinary hours.
(j) Each employee whose duties require them to work out of doors shall be supplied with overboots. Upon completion of Sufficient raincoats shall also be made available for use by these employees.
(k) Each employee whose duties require them to work in a hazardous situation with or near machinery shall be supplied with appropriate protective clothing and equipment.
(l) For employees engaged in community care services the probationary periodfollowing shall apply:
(i) On request, the employee employer shall receive a uniform allowance supply free of charge two sets of full body aprons or other attire as agreed by the employer and payable as set forth in Section 23.02.
23.02 Each non-probationary employee shall receive a uniform allowance in the amount of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) each year of the Agreement, payable in equal increments in first pay period in January and first pay period in July each calendar year.
23.03 Items of equipment or clothing necessary to job performance which are damaged, lost or destroyed while on duty that belong to the employee;
(ii) The attire supplied in (i) above, shall be replaced or repaired by the employer on the basis of fair wear and tear;
(iii) The attire supplied in (i) above, shall remain the property of the employer at all times and any employee applying for a new issue supplied by the employer who fails to return their last issue shall not be entitled to a new issue without payment thereof;
(iv) All new employees at time of engagement and all existing employees at the Employer's expense, not to exceed One Hundred Fifty Dollars ($150.00) per man, per year, and only after approval time of the Chief and the Safety Director. Items next issue of clothing or equipment paid for by the Employer through an individual's purchase order shall be exempt from this provision.

The Union shall provide Director of Phy sical Plan or his/ her designee will make the Employer with three (3) approved vendors which employees must utilize final determination as to obtain bulletproof veststhe necessity of replacing the first two items. This provision is effective upon execution The College will reimburse each employee for the cost of the Agreement in 2007initial winter jacket and any replacement up to $80.00. The College will al so reimburse the employee for the cost of the initial spring jacket and any replacement up to $40.00 per jacket. Employees not requesting are required to submit proper receipts to claim such reimbursement. Jackets must be navy blue in color , washable, and contain no signs, symbols or writing on them. Beyond that, the brand and type of jacket is at the discretion of the employee. If the winter and/ or the spring jacket are deemed in need of replacement, employees will follow the guidelines stated above to purchase a contribution shall not be replacement(s). The Director of Physical Plant or his/ her designee will make the final determination as to the necessity of replacing either item.
Section 2. It is agreed that any unit employee required to wear glasses shall be provided one (1) pair of safety glasses; and shall wear them while on duty. These glasses shall be replaced by the College:
1. Should they become broken through the course of employment.
2. With a vestdoctor's verification for a change in lens strength.
Section 3. The College shall reimbu rse all employees up to one hundred and twenty dollars ($ 120.00) for the purchase of one pair of safety shoes, provided such employees sign upon presentation of a waiver attesting bona fide receipt. Safety shoes shall be defined as shoes which contain either a UNIFORM ALLOWANCE
Section 4. The College shall pay to their knowledge the members of the Bargaining Unit an annual uniform cleaning allowance of $200.00 payable in one check, during the first pay week of December.
Section 5. Upon termination of employment, all uniforms and rejection equipment issued to an employee must be returned to the College. A reduction shall be made in t he employee's last check equal to the value of such contribution and releasing replacing any uniform or equipment assigned to the Employer from any liability resulting therefromemployee which is not returned.

In the event the city changes uniforms and the cost to the employee exceeds the $400.00 annual allowance in any twelve (12) month period, the union may re-open this article for the purpose of negotiating who will pay the excess cost. In the event of impasse, the dispute shall be resolved in accordance with the impasse procedures of Section 16.14 of the Illinois Public Labor Relations Act. In the event that Nomex duty uniforms shall be mandated by law or required by the city, then in that event, either party may re-open this agreement for purposes of re-negotiating the uniform allowance upon thirty (30) days written notice from one party to wear a vestthe other party. In the event that the parties cannot reach an agreement on the issue of Nomex duty uniforms, provided such then in that event, the dispute shall be settled by the dispute resolution procedures established for protective service employees sign a waiver attesting to their knowledge and rejection of such contribution and releasing the Employer from any liability resulting therefromunder 5 ILCS 315/14.
