Common use of Unpaid Carer’s Leave Clause in Contracts

Unpaid Carer’s Leave. (1) An employee is entitled to an additional 2 days unpaid carer’s leave on each occasion he or she is required to care for a member of his or her immediate family or a member of his or her household who is ill or injured. (2) The entitlement to unpaid carer’s leave will only arise if the employee has exhausted his or her paid personal leave for the year. (3) An employee may elect, with the consent of the Company, to take additional unpaid leave for the purpose of providing care to a family or household member who is ill.
