Common use of Unscheduled Time Off Clause in Contracts

Unscheduled Time Off. When time off is requested without prior approval due to an emergency or illness, a specific reason for the request is to be given. A nurse requiring time off without prior approval and on short notice must notify one departmental contact, as identified by Medical Center policy, as soon as the employee becomes aware of the need, or at least three (3) hours prior to the starting time for the applicable shift.

Leaving a message constitutes a reasonable effort to notify under this paragraph. The nurse must provide such notification each day of absence unless prior to arrangements have been made with the starting time for the applicable shiftnurse’s manager.
