Uses of Sick Leave. Standard reasons acceptable for sick leave are: a. Personal illness (includes emergency dental and medical appointments). b. Injury. c. Exposure to contagious disease which could be communicated to others. d. Absence due to illness, injury, or death in employee’s immediate family. e. Absence due to disability caused or contributed to by pregnancy, miscarriage, abortion, childbirth and recovery therefrom.
