Vacancies and Reassignments. 5.01 A vacancy occurring during the work year shall be filled on a temporary basis for the remainder of the school year. Positions filled in this manner shall be posted as vacant for the following school year as well as any other vacancies which become known for the following school year. This will not be construed to replace the written request in 5.02 above or to obligate the Superintendent to assign any particular person to an indicated position. 5.05 If a transfer/reassignment is made during the course of the school year, the teacher will be provided two (2) business days to affect the transfer/reassignment. 5.06 If an involuntary transfer/reassignment to a new classroom or building is made for the beginning of the next school year, the teacher will be provided one (1) day at their daily rate to affect the transfer/reassignment.

Teachers who have a written transfer request on file with the Superintendent for the position posted shall be contacted by the Superintendent at the telephone number made available by the teacher for that purpose. If the teacher does not respond to the telephone notification, the position may then be filled in the discretion of the Superintendent.

5.08 The Superintendent will discuss the creation of any new building-level administrative position at the regular Association/Administration Committee meetings. A qualified unit member who applies for a vacant administrative position that is not filled by an internal, administrative transfer, shall be granted an interview.
5.09 Candidates for open positions, for which unit members may be applying, will be interviewed by a committee. The purpose of the committee shall be to provide input regarding interviewed candidates. A consistent policy governing the composition and purpose of interviewing committees will be implemented in all buildings. An attempt will be made include on the committee unit members who would potentially be working with the candidate. The final decision for filling an open position will be made by administration.
