Violence Prevention and Control. (a) The Employer agrees that no form of verbal, physical, sexual, racial or other abuse of employees will be condoned in the workplace. Any employee who believes the situation to be abusive shall complete an incident report and give it to the immediate supervisor who will make every reasonable effort to rectify the abusive situation. (b) The parties agree that if incidents involving aggressive client action occur, such action will be recorded and reviewed at the Occupational Health and Safety Committee. The parties further agree that suitable subjects for discussion at the Labour Management Committee will include aggressive residents. (c) The Employer shall notify the Union within three days of any employee who allegedly has been assaulted while performing her or his work. The employee may choose to have her or his name remain confidential. Updated statistics on numbers of staff allegedly assaulted while performing work will be brought to each meeting of the Joint Health and Safety Committee. (d) The Hospital, will consider a nurse’s request for reimbursement for damages incurred to the nurse’s personal property as a result of being assaulted while performing her work. Personal property includes eye glasses, ripped uniforms, personal clothing and watches up to a fifty dollars ($50.00) value, but excluding jewellery. (e) The hospital agrees to develop formalized policies and procedures in consultation with the joint health and safety committee to deal with workplace violence. The policy will address the prevention of violence and the management of violent situations and support to nurses who have faced workplace violence. These policies and procedures shall be communicated to all nurses. (f) The Hospital will report all incidents of violence to the Joint Health and Safety Committee for review. (g) The Hospital agrees to provide training and information on the prevention of violence to all employees who come into contact with potentially aggressive persons. This training will be done during a new employee’s orientation and updated as required. (h) Critical incident stress debriefing shall be made available to nurses.

Violence Prevention and Control. (a) The Employer agrees that no form in consultation with the Joint Health and Safety Committee shall develop, establish and put into effect, violence prevention and control measures, procedures, practices, equipment and training for the health and safety of verbalworkers. Violence prevention and control measures, physicalprocedures and practices equipment and training shall be provided to all employees during new employee orientation and reviewed annually. Critical incident stress debriefing and post-traumatic counselling services shall be made available for employees. i) Violence at work includes any incident in which an employee is physically abused, sexualthreatened or assaulted while performing work. These measures, policies and procedures shall will include but not be communicated to limited to: i) Assessing and reassessing risk; ii) Control risks; iii) Designing safe procedures for employees; iv) An electronic and visual flagging system that can alert all nursesemployees about a person with a history of violent behaviour and their triggers; v) Protection of employees; vi) Summon immediate assistance; vii) Investigate all incidents of workplace violence; viii) Communicate and provide appropriate training and education; and, ix) Reporting all incidents of workplace violence. (fc) The Hospital will report all incidents of violence to Employer and the Joint Health and Safety Committee for review. Union recognize the Employer’s obligation under Section 25 (g2) The Hospital agrees to provide training and information on the prevention of violence to all employees who come into contact with potentially aggressive persons. This training will be done during a new employee’s orientation and updated as required. Personal property includes eye glasses, ripped uniforms, personal clothing and watches up to a fifty dollars ($50.00) value, but excluding jewellery. (e) The hospital agrees A registered nurse will complete an incident report at the time of the incident. If the registered nurse is unable to develop formalized policies and procedures in consultation with complete the joint health and safety committee incident report at the time of the incident, the registered nurse will present the incident report to deal with workplace violence. The policy will address the prevention Employer within seven (7) days of violence and the management of violent situations and support event, unless it was impossible for her or him to nurses who have faced workplace violence. For critical injuries the Employer will notify the JHSC and the Union immediately and in writing within forty-eight (48) hours. (f) The Hospital agrees that, where there is an identified risk of violence, it will make all reasonable efforts to ensure there is an adequate level of trained employees and personnel be present. The Hospital will also ensure there is an adequate number of well-trained personnel who will respond to all code whites and who can immobilize and detain/restrain a patient as needed. (g) The Hospital will provide for reimbursement for damages incurred to the nurse’s personal property such as eyeglasses, ripped uniforms, personal clothing as a result of being assaulted while performing their work.
