Common use of Workday and Workweek Clause in Contracts

Workday and Workweek. 7.1.1 The workweek for members assigned to a position of four hours or more per day shall be five consecutive workdays and no more than 40 hours. 7.1.2 Except as otherwise provided by this contract, the District may establish a workweek of less than five days and/or less than 40 hours for any of its positions. 7.1.3 This article shall not restrict the extension of the workweek on an overtime basis when such is necessary to carry on the business of the District. All time worked shall be compensated by payment of wages, except that overtime hours may, in accordance with section 7.6 of this article, be compensated in duty free time. 7.1.4 On days designated in the board approved KUSD calendar as minimum days, preceding Winter Break and Spring Break, classified employees will be excused from duties with permission from their direct supervisor after completing a minimum of half of their work day and when there are no students and/or teacher to assist, unless staff development activities have been scheduled. In these circumstances, the workday would be considered complete and the employee not docked time or pay.
