(x) Not more frequently than once during the life of the Collective Agreement, an employee may be granted a leave of absence without pay of up to three (3) months duration for personal reasons. Subject to Company operational requirements no more than two (2) employees from any one department may be granted such leave at the same time.
(b) Notwithstanding the provisions of Article 18.01, the Company will consider an exceptional employee request for leave of absence based on documented family medical emergency.
(c) Leaves of Absence will not be granted for other gainful employment or regularly scheduled work or occupation. Violation of this provision will result in termination.
(a) Subject to the provisions of Articles 18.02 (b), 18.02 (c) and 18.02 (d) and subject to Company scheduling and other operational requirements, a leave of absence without pay and without loss of seniority will be granted to a maximum of two (2) employees at a time, selected to attend union conferences and other similar functions. Such leaves shall not exceed ten (10) working days unless otherwise mutually agreed in writing. Leave of absence for such attendance shall not exceed a bargaining unit cumulative total of forty (40) working days in any contract year.
(b) Subject to the provisions of Article 18.02 (c) the Parties agree that a maximum of two (2) employees may be granted a leave of absence to attend the Union’s International Convention.
(c) Notwithstanding the provisions of Articles 18.02(a) and 18.02(b), no more than one (1) employee from the same department may be granted a leave of absence under this Article at the same time.
(d) The union shall provide to the Company as much advance notice as possible and not less than ten (10) working days advance notice prior to the proposed commencement of the leave. The Company will respond to the leave request within five (5) working days.
