Common use of Yard Closure Clause in Contracts

Yard Closure. Should operational requirements or change in required work result in the decision to close a yard or office, the Employer agrees to advise and consult with the Union in accordance with the requirements of Section 54 of the Labour Relations Code, at least sixty (60) days before the closing, so that an understanding may be reached regarding affected employees. Additionally, the Employer agrees to maintain at least one (1) permanent point of assembly in each of the Vancouver Island seniority blocks.
