Client Access License definition

Client Access License or “CAL” means a usage license required for each Client that runs, accesses or utilizes, directly or indirectly, Software (or other specified services) running on a Server.

Client Access License or “CAL” means a License that allows a specific number of Client(s) to access and use the Base Software. Depending on the product, a CAL co- vers at least one (1) Client but may also cover a defined number of Clients (by example and without limitation, 20, 25, 100 Clients) or permit an unlimited number of Clients to access the Base Software.

Client Access License means a license enabling or permitting the use of certain capabilities in respect to a specific individual end user or a specific Device, on a single (1) instance of the Software.

• During the Licensed Period, Faculty and Staff who are the primary users (as defined in the Product Use Rights) of an Institution Qualified Desktop running one or more Products licensed by Institution may run one copy of each licensed Product on a home PC that they own or lease (or, for work at home rights for a Client Access License, to access the server Products licensed by Institution from a home PC that they own or lease), solely for work-related purposes.

• Number of concurrent connections: Each connection must have its own Client Access License.

• Licensee does not need a separate Client Access License for Windows NT Server to access or otherwise utilize any other Windows NT Server services, to access or run Microsoft or third-party server applications on Windows NT Server, or to otherwise use the Client Software.

• If not, Licensee needs a separate Client Access License for Windows NT Server for each computer or workstation that will be accessing or otherwise utilizing the services of the Server.
