Consultant / Specialist definition

Consultant / Specialist means a medical practitioner who holds the appropriate higher qualification of a University or College, recognised by the Australian Medical Council (“the AMC”), and includes a Fellow of the Australasian Chapter of Addiction Medicine, or, in exceptional circumstances to satisfy areas of unmet need, such other specialist qualification recognised by the Director General of Health and who, unless otherwise approved by the Director General of Health, is employed and practising in the specialty for which he/she is qualified.
Consultant / Specialist means a licensed physician who meets at least one of the following criteria: ● Board certified by a member board of the American Board of Medical Specialties and currently retains that status;● Demonstrates satisfactory completion of a residency program accredited by the Liaison Committee for Graduate Medical Education, or the appropriate Residency Review Committee of the American Medical Association (AMA);● Board certified by a specialty board approved by the Advisory Board of Osteopathic Specialists and the Board of Trustees of the American Osteopathic Specialists; or● If a residency program was completed in a foreign country, can demonstrate qualifications and training are acceptable for admission into the examination system of the appropriate American Specialty Board.

Consultant / Specialist means a qualified Medical Practitioner holding a valid and subsisting license, granted by the appropriate licensing authority, and acting within the scope of his license, expert in the field of medicine for which he carries the status of a Consultant.
