Fire Watch definition

Fire Watch means an Enforcement Official approved person or persons assigned to the Premises for the purpose of protecting the occupants from fire or similar emergencies. A Fire Watch may involve at least some special action beyond normal staffing, such as assigning an additional security guard(s) to walk the Premises, who has been specially trained in fire prevention and in the use of fire extinguishers, in notifying the fire department, in sounding the Fire Alarm System located on the Premises, and in understanding the particular fire safety situation.
Fire Watch means the assignment of a person or persons to an area for the express purpose of notifying the Fire Department, the Occupants of a Premises or both of an emergency, preventing a fire from occurring, extinguishing small fires or protecting the public from fire or life safety dangers.

  • The Fire Watch shall be trained in accordance with NFPA 51B and remain on-site for a minimum of 30 minutes after completion of the task or as specified on the hot work permit.
