Measures of Student Learning definition

Measures of Student Learning means the change in student achievement in relation to Colorado Academic Standards for an individual student between two or more points in time, which shall be determined using multiple measures, one of which shall be the results of Statewide Summative Assessments, and which may include other standards- based measures that are rigorous and comparable across classrooms of similar content areas and levels. Student Academic Growth also may include gains in progress towards postsecondary and workforce readiness. Student Academic Growth may include progress toward academic and functional goals included in an individualized education program and/or progress made towards Student Academic Growth Objectives.

It is the equivalent of a “performance standard,” as defined in section 22-9-103 (2.5), C.R.S. The four Performance Evaluation ratings for educators shall be: ineffective, partially effective, effective, and highly effective.

Examples of Measures of Student Learning in a sentence

  • By October 15, the educator and administrator will meet to collaboratively review the self-reflection, finalize the priority growth goals, the overall evaluation plan, and determine Measures of Student Learning.

  • Guidance on the development and recording of individual Measures of Student Learning (MSLs) will also be provided.

  • Multiple Measures of Student Learning: Measures must include a combination of classroom, school and district assessments, student growth percentiles on state assessments, if state assessments are available, and student MEPA gain scores.

  • By September 15th, the evaluator will meet with the employee, individually or in a general meeting, to authorize the evaluation process, timelines, and review the Boulder Valley School District Effective Teacher Standards, Elements, and Professional Practices and Measures of Student Learning Framework.

  • For the 2014-15 school year and thereafter the DOE shall create new measures (referred to as “Linked Measures”) for Local and State Measures of Student Learning such that there is an option for each teacher to be evaluated based upon assessment results of students he/she teaches.
