Professional Review Action definition

Professional Review Action means any action or recommendation of a Professional Review Body which is taken or made in the conduct of Professional Review Activity, which is based on the competence or professional conduct of a health care provider and which affects, or may affect such individual’s Staff Membership and/or Clinical Privileges.4
Professional Review Action means an action or recommendation of a professional review body which is taken or made in the conduct of professional peer review activity, which is based on the competence or professional conduct of a staff appointee, and which affects or may affect adversely the clinical privileges or appointment of the staff appointee.
Professional Review Action means an action or recommendation of a peer review committee which is taken or made in the conduct of professional review activity, which is based on the competence or professional conduct of an individual practitioner (which conduct affects or could affect adversely the health or welfare of a patient or patients or is disruptive or not conducive to the orderly operation of the Hospital), and which affects (or may affect) adversely the clinical privileges of the practitioner. Such term includes a formal decision of a professional review body not to take an action or make a recommendation and also includes professional review activities relating to a professional review action and shall further mean any activity of the hospital with respect to an individual practitioner to determine whether the practitioner may or may not have clinical privileges with respect to, or membership in, the hospital, to determine the scope or condition of such privileges or membership, or to change or modify such privileges or membership.

  • Notwithstanding any other provision of this Policy, no Practitioner shall be entitled, as of right, to more than one hearing with respect to a Professional Review Action or Summary Suspension taken against that Practitioner.

Professional Review Action means a recommendation by a professional review panel (with at least a majority vote) to affect adversely the clinicalprivileges of a physician or dentist taken as a result of a professional review activity based on the competence or professional conduct of an individual physician or dentist in cases in which such conduct affects or could affect adversely the health or welfare of a patient, or patients. For clarity, Professional Review Actions do not include: (a) OPPE, (b) FPPE that is performed in relation to new or additional clinical privileges, (c) FPPE that is conducted as a matter of routine process and/or that otherwise does not otherwise constitute a non-routine investigation, or (d) actions that are Administrative Actions.
