Special detail work is work time performed by a unit employee during off-duty hours involving duty at parades and other public or civic events and private contract work authorized by Police Management.
Special detail assignments shall be utilized by the Chief of Police to move department personnel to a specific assignment for a specific period of time to meet a department need when it is intended to return the individual to their regular assignment at the end of a given period of time.
Special detail work is defined as work performed by an assigned employee during off duty hours (i.e. special fire safety standby assignment, fire investigative response, or Oral Board member service), other than for designated incentive or skill pay as designated in Section 10.03.
Special detail overtime will be posted one (1) day in advance, if possible.

Special detail rates for Town and private details shall be $45.00 per hour, commencing on the date of execution of this Agreement until June 30, 2017, and shall be $46.00 per hour commencing on July 1, 2017 until June 30, 2018, and shall be $47.00 per hour commencing on July 1, 2018 until June 30, 2019, with a minimum four (4) hours for all details, except that for private details which exceed five (5) hours, there shall be a minimum of eight (8) hours.
