Substitute Employees. An individual who is employed to fill in for a full- time or part-time employee on a temporary basis. ● Temporary employees: Employees who are employed to work for a period not to exceed nine months. Substitute Employees refers to persons employed to replace any bargaining unit member who is temporarily absent from duty. In addition, if the District is then engaged 9 in a procedure to hire a permanent employee to fill a vacancy in any classified position, 10 the Governing Board may fill the vacancy through the employment, for not more than 11 sixty (60) calendar days, of one or more substitute employees.
