Work Area Teams definition

Work Area Teams are groups of Employees who have the responsibility for completing an element of work. The team is given the task for completing the whole job cycle: of planning, doing, checking, replanning etc. and must also take on the safety, quality and environment issues in getting the job done. The aim is for the team to be self-managed. Within the team there needs to be sufficient skills to complete the tasks at hand although all of the team members are unlikely to have the same level of skill and learning is encouraged, with those who are more highly skilled in some aspects of the work assisting others in learning those skills.
