ABSENTISM IN DAY CARE. For subsidized day care children, each child is allowed up to 35 absent days per calendar year. The parent/guardian is responsible for the assessed fees when the child is absent. If the child is absent for more than 35 days, the parent/guardian is responsible for paying the full cost of care. Statutory holidays will be excluded from the 35 days. Requests for additional days of absence, beyond the 35 allowable days may be approved though the appeal process. Appeals will be considered for exceptional cases only, such as when a child has a documented specific need or serious illness. Consequently, the West End Home Child Care Services requires that you pay a one week’s full fee deposit once your child has been absent 30 days. When you reach 35 days you will be requested to pay for the absent day up on your return to the day care. The day care has the right to cancel care for your child if you refuse to pay deposit or your daily fee.
