Abuse of Paid Time Off (PTO) Leave a. Excessive unscheduled use of PTO will be grounds for disciplinary action. When an employee’s absences are such that the County has reasonable grounds to believe that an abuse exists, the employee will be notified in writing, by their Battalion Chief or other Chief Officer, of the suspected abuse, and thereafter may be required, regardless of the duration of the absence, to submit a satisfactory doctor’s certificate or affidavit indicating the specific nature of the disability and its’ duration to the employee’s Battalion Chief or other Chief Officer before such absence may be charged against the employee’s accumulated PTO balance. Reasonable grounds of abuse include a pattern of numerous one-day absences throughout the year, particularly if leave is always taken on Mondays or Fridays; frequency of absences; low/zero accumulated PTO balance; and other patterns of abuse.

  • Use of Paid Leave ‌ With the approval of the Appointing Authority, employees will be allowed to utilize accrued sick leave, personal holiday or vacation leave when on authorized leave without pay due to illness or injury.

  • Paid Time Off (PTO) Executive shall earn and accrue paid-time-off covering vacation and sick time benefits at the rate of twenty (20) days per year for employment periods of up to five years of service. The PTO accrual rate shall automatically increase by five (5) additional days for each additional 5 years of service up to maximum of thirty (30) days per year after 10 years of service. For example, after five years of service, the annual PTO accrual rate shall increase to twenty-five (25) days. Unused PTO shall carry over to the next year, but Executive shall cease accruing further PTO at any time Executive has accrued two times his annual accrual rate. Unused PTO days which are not in excess of two-times the annual accrual rate shall be paid in a cash lump sum payment promptly after Executive’s termination of employment.

  • Use of Paid Time Employee must exhaust all available vacation prior to the start of the leave of absence.

  • Unpaid Time Off All accruals must be exhausted prior to taking unpaid time off (unless eligible for EIT access).

  • Paid Time Off The Executive shall be entitled to take paid time off in accordance with the Company’s applicable paid time off policy for executives, as may be in effect from time to time.

  • Annual Leave Exclusive of Public Holidays The period of annual leave prescribed by this clause is exclusive of any public holidays, and if any such holiday falls within an employee’s period of annual leave and is observed on a day which in the case of that employee would have been an ordinary working day, there will be added to the period of annual leave time equivalent to the ordinary time which the employee would have worked if such day had not been a holiday.

  • Special Leave of Absence Teachers may be granted leaves of absence without pay for one (1) year under the following criteria:

  • Use of Vacation Leave A. Vacation Accruals earned at the end of the month are available for use the 1st of the following month.

  • General Leave of Absence a) Leave of absence without pay may be granted to employees for valid reasons as set out by Company policy.
