General Leave of Absence a) Leave of absence without pay may be granted to employees for valid reasons as set out by Company policy.
b) An employee on general leave of absence shall not accumulate sick leave credits, or earn vacation but shall retain the seniority, sick leave credits, and vacation credits earned prior to commencing leave of absence.
c) Employees do not have the option of continuing their benefit coverage during the leave.
d) Employees on leave of absence shall be required to apply for any extension.
General Leave of Absence. Leave of absence without pay may be granted to an Employee at the discretion of the Employer and the Employee shall not work for gain during the period of leave of absence except with the express written consent of the Employer. Except in exceptional circumstances, or where there is mutual agreement between the Employee and the Employer, the Employer will reply in writing to a request for leave of absence within fourteen (14) calendar days of receipt of the request.
General Leave of Absence. Employees desiring leave of absence with or without pay for any reasons, shall submit an application in writing where practicable for such leave to the City Manager or his/her designate. The City Manager shall make the decision, based on the circumstances and merits of each application and the leave will not be unreasonably refused. The City Manager's decision shall be subject to Article 4.
General Leave of Absence. A general leave of absence without pay of up to one (1) year may be granted for reasons that do not fit the categories contained in the paragraphs above, at the discretion of the Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources. A one (1) year extension may be granted in extreme circumstances. Such decisions shall not be grievable.
General Leave of Absence. After five (5) years of service to the Chardon Schools, a full-time employee shall be entitled to one general unpaid leave of absence of up to two (2) consecutive semesters in length. Such leave shall be contingent upon the teacher giving written notice of a request for same to the Superintendent at least sixty (60) calendar days in advance of the initiation date for said leave. Said leave shall be taken in increments of semesters. During said leave, an employee shall not accrue any of the following: advancement on an incremental step on the salary schedule, advancement of calculated experience toward longevity and/or severance, nor advancement toward any seniority including (but not limited to) reduction in force provisions. Request for general leave may only be made by full-time employees who are currently in active service. Reinstatement from general leave shall be at the beginning of each school semester. If a teacher desires to return to active service prior to the date stated in his or her application for leave, the teacher may do so with the approval of the Superintendent. If early return is granted, the teacher shall be assigned to the assignment held prior to such leave, or to a substantially equivalent position. At the expiration of the leave period as originally granted, the teacher shall be reinstated on the same terms and conditions as though he or she returned from leave at the time set forth in the application.
General Leave of Absence. A general leave of absence may be granted at the discretion of the District.
General Leave of Absence. 13.03.1 Employees may apply for a General Leave of absence without pay for up to a maximum of six (6) months. If leave granted is for longer than four (4) weeks, the period of leave shall not be credited for computation of sick leave or annual vacations and the maintenance of employee benefits shall be conditional upon the employee paying the full cost of such plans.
General Leave of Absence. General Leave of Absence is an absence from duty which may be granted at the sole discretion of the Board or their agent(s) for full-time licensed teachers without salary or fringe benefits.
1. Licensed teachers who have been regularly contracted during the past three (3) school years, including current school year, and who have been assigned full-time, duties for all three (3) of these years and who will be offered a contract for the next school year, may apply for a General Leave of Absence.
2. The term of the General Leave shall be for one school year only with the option of one additional year of leave if requested by the teacher and if granted by the District.
3. Teachers may request a General Leave of Absence by forwarding a letter of interest by March 1 of the current school year to the Human Resources Office. The teacher will receive a written response to the leave request within a reasonable period of time after the disposition of the request, generally by the end of March. (2016)
4. Teachers on a General Leave of Absence must notify the Human Resources Office of their intentions no later than March 1st of the leave year. If the teacher has been offered a contract for the ensuing year, the teacher shall be entitled to a position for which the teacher is qualified.
5. No employment experience shall be granted for purposes of advancement on the salary schedule.
6. The teacher shall retain previously accumulated sick leave and experience credit for salary purposes.
7. The teacher may maintain, at no cost to the District, health and hospitalization insurance, provided the premium payments are arranged with the insurance carrier.
8. The teacher may continue, at no cost to the District, individual term life insurance coverage, in accordance with the plan document from the life insurance provider. (2021)
General Leave of Absence. Leaves of absence up to one (1) year without pay will be granted to employees for purposes such as study, travel, teacher exchange programs, public service, childcare, caregiving in the event of layoff, or a combination of these. Leave will not generally be granted for outside employment, except that leave may be granted for foreign certificated positions, or to positions that the District deems to be of professional growth value to the employee. Employees on leave of absence may substitute for the District or for other school districts as long as the primary purpose of leave is not for the purpose of substitute teaching.
1. All requests for General Leave must be made before March 15 of the year prior to the requested leave and are subject to approval by the Board of Directors, so as to assist in providing assignments by June 1. If March 15 falls on a non-workday, the request must be submitted on the last workday preceding March 15. Later requests will be considered but may not be granted if a certificated replacement cannot be found.
2. Evergreen Public Schools is not obligated to grant everyone a leave of absence who requests it. In the event of a layoff, where the District could avoid layoff of a teacher by granting a Leave of Absence, the District will grant Leave of Absence requests to teach in another school district.
3. Each request for a leave of absence will be judged on its own merits.
4. The employee granted a leave of absence for a one year period must confirm intention to return from leave with the District Personnel Office by March 15 of the year prior to that school year.
5. Upon return from approved leave, the employee shall be placed in the position last held or in a similar position if such a position is available. If a position is unavailable due to reduction-in-force, the employee shall be placed on the seniority list.
6. Any employee who is returning from a one-year leave shall first be returned to his/her building and grade level assignment prior to any staffing adjustment that may be required for the ensuing school year.
7. The employee granted a year's leave of absence shall, upon return, be placed on the appropriate step of the salary schedule.
8. Upon request by the employee before March 15 of the leave year, the General Leave of Absence may be renewed for up to one (1) additional year.
General Leave of Absence. (a) Requests by employees for leaves of absence without pay for up to one (1) year may be granted at the discretion of the Employer and providing the employee can be spared without materially affecting the operation of the employee's work area. Employees returning from leaves of absence are entitled to return to their previous position or one of comparable value.
