Use of Vacation Leave. A. Vacation Accruals earned at the end of the month are available for use the 1st of the following month.
Use of Vacation Leave. A. The Department Head or his/her designee shall determine the period when accrued vacation time may be taken by each employee consistent with the requirements of the department.
Use of Vacation Leave. 1. All vacation time must be taken within the twelve-month period immediately following the close of the fiscal year (June 30) in which it is earned. An employee may carry over vacation time to the next fiscal year provided he/she has received prior written approval from the District Superintendent. Vacation leave not used or approved for carryover will be lost, unless such leave was not taken because the employer disapproved of the employee’s request to use such leave, in which case such leave shall either be paid to the employee at the end of the fiscal year or shall be carried forward to the next year at the employee’s discretion. Vacation may be taken in hourly increments or fraction of an hour absence.

Use of Vacation Leave. Vacation leave is a right; however, the use of same shall be scheduled by the City, taking into account the desires and seniority of employees and the workload requirements of the department. Employees shall take vacation leave regularly each year and shall be encouraged to take vacation at least a full week at a time. In order to give effect to this policy and to realize the greatest benefit from vacation leave for both employees and the City, limitations shall be placed upon the amount of unused vacation leave an employee is allowed to accumulate.
Use of Vacation Leave. Employees are encouraged to use at least forty (40) hours of vacation leave each fiscal year. Vacation leave time shall not be approved until such time as it has been earned. The time at which an employee shall take vacation leave shall be requested by the employee prior to the start of the vacation leave period. Such vacation leave to be taken shall be subject to the prior approval of the Department Director, or designee, subsequent to consideration of the departmental workload and other staffing considerations, such as but not limited to, the previously approved vacation schedule of other employees, sick leave and position vacancies.

Use of Vacation Leave. (2021) The vacation calendar shall run from March 1 through the last day of February in the following year. Vacation leave shall be scheduled between January 1 and the last day of February, based on seniority. Choice of vacation times shall be made among employees at a work location in rotation by seniority with the most senior employee choosing first. The rotation shall be repeated until all vacation schedule selections have been made. For purposes of scheduling and coverage for vacations, the York County UCD shall be treated as one work location. Each employee may select no more than the following units of vacation time per round of selection: Years of Seniority Units per Round Less than ten (10) years Two (2) units per round Ten (10) years or more, but less than fifteen (15) years Three (3) units per round Fifteen (15) years or more, but less than twenty (20) years Four (4) units per round Twenty (20) years of more Five (5) units per round For the purposes of this Article, a “unit of vacation time” means a block of time consisting of not less than one (1) nor more than five (5) consecutive days (Monday through Friday). If a holiday falls mid-week (Tuesday through Thursday), this day shall be considered consecutive for purposes of this paragraph. An employee may cancel all or part of a scheduled vacation up to thirty (30) calendar days prior to the beginning of the unit of vacation time. Cancellations within this thirty (30) calendar day period may be allowed when an organizational need exists and there is mutual agreement between the employee and the employee’s supervisor. This language shall only be applied to units selected between January 1st and the last day of February. All vacation requests submitted after March 1 shall be considered on a first come, first served basis, without respect to seniority. The employee may choose to cancel all or part of this scheduled vacation time up to seven (7) calendar days prior to the beginning of the scheduled vacation time for any reason, unless the employee and their supervisor mutually agree to authorize cancelation of vacation time within seven (7) calendar days prior.
Use of Vacation Leave. Beyond the first thirty (30) calendar days of leave, which shall be with full pay and shall not affect an employee's vacation or sick leave balance, use of accrued paid leave is authorized during military leave in keeping with the University’s extended leave of absence policy.
