ACADEMIC FREEDOM & PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITY. 6.1 The CCSNH and the Association endorse the principles and standards of academic freedom and academic responsibilities, professionalism, and freedom of expression generally and traditionally accepted in public institutions of higher education. Therefore, as an academic community committed to teaching and service excellence, the CCSNH fosters a professional atmosphere that promotes the highest standards of professional conduct and integrity. To ensure students within the CCSNH are provided with a quality education and services, it is expected that staff are aware of and comply with their professional duties and responsibilities to demonstrate the highest standards of professional behavior; to exercise professional judgment; to perform official duties effectively, efficiently, and with honesty, integrity, and fairness; to be conscious of the need for the equitable treatment of all students; and to use institutional resources economically.

ACADEMIC FREEDOM & PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITY. A. The CCSNH and the Association endorse the principles and standards of academic freedom and academic responsibilities generally and traditionally accepted in institutions of higher education. As an academic community committed to teaching and service excellence, it is expected that adjunct faculty will comply with their professional responsibilities to demonstrate the highest standards of professional behavior; to exercise professional judgment; to perform official duties effectively, efficiently, and with honesty, integrity, and fairness; to be conscious of the need for the equitable treatment of all students; and to use college resources economically. B. The CCSNH strives to maintain and encourage full academic freedom, within the law, of inquiry, teaching, research, and publication. Academic freedom in it teaching aspect is fundamental for the protection of the rights of the teacher in teaching and of the student to freedom in learning. C. In the exercise of academic freedom, the adjunct faculty member may discuss his/her own subject in the classroom that aligns with course objectives; s/he may claim as his/her right the privilege of discussing in his/her classroom controversial matters which serve an educational purpose and relate to his/her subject matter. D. Academic freedom carries with it correlative responsibilities. The adjunct faculty member has the responsibility to colleagues and the College community to preserve intellectual honesty in his/her teaching and research. The adjunct faculty member respects the free inquiry of his/her associates and avoids interference in their work. E. In his/her role as a citizen, every adjunct faculty member has the same freedom as other citizens. However, in his/her extramural utterances s/he has an obligation to make every effort to indicate that s/he is not a CCSNH or College spokesperson. Nothing herein shall be construed as an abridgement of rights guaranteed to the individual adjunct faculty member by the Constitution of the United States or the State of New Hampshire. X. An adjunct faculty member has the right to pursue work or other activities outside of the College.

  • Professional Responsibility 19.01 The parties agree that resident care is enhanced if concerns relating to professional practice and workload are resolved in a timely and effective manner, as set out below; In the event that the Home assigns a number of residents or a workload to an individual employee or group of employees, such that she or they have cause to believe that she or they are being asked to perform more work than is consistent with proper resident care, she or they shall: i) At the time the workload issue occurs, discuss the issue within the Home to develop strategies to meet resident care needs using current resources. If necessary, using established lines of communication, seek immediate assistance from an individual(s) identified by the Home who has responsibility for timely resolution of workload issues. ii) Failing resolution at the time of occurrence of the workload issue, complain in writing to the Union-Management Committee within twenty (20) calendar days of the alleged improper assignment. The chairperson of the Union-Management Committee shall convene a meeting of the Union-Management Committee within twenty (20) calendar days of the filing of the complaint. The Union-Management Committee shall hear and attempt to resolve the complaint to the satisfaction of both parties. The Employer will provide a written response to the Union, with a copy to the ONA representation within ten (10) calendar days. iii) Prior to the complaint being forwarded to the Independent Assessment Committee, the Union may forward a written report outlining the complaint and recommendations to the Director of Resident Care and/or the Administrator. iv) At any time during this process, the parties may agree to the use of a mediator to assist in the resolution of the Professional Practice issues. v) Any settlement arrived at under 19.01 (a) i) – iii) shall be signed by the parties. vi) Failing resolution of the complaint within twenty (20) calendar days of the meeting of the Union-Management Committee, the complaint shall be forwarded to an independent Assessment Committee composed of three (3) registered nurses; one chosen by the Ontario Nurses' Association, one chosen by the Home and one chosen from a panel of independent registered nurses who are well respected within the profession. The member of the Committee chosen from the panel of independent registered nurses shall act as Chairperson. vii) The Independent Assessment Committee shall set a date to conduct a hearing into the complaint, within twenty (20) calendar days of its appointment, and shall be empowered to investigate as is necessary to properly assess the merits of the complaint. The Independent Assessment Committee shall report its findings, in writing, to the parties within twenty (20) calendar days following completion of its hearing. (b) i) The list of Independent Assessment Committee Chairpersons is attached as Appendix “B”. The members of the panel shall sit in rotation as agreed by the parties. If a panel member is unable to sit within the time limit stipulated, the panel member next scheduled to sit will be appointed by the parties.

  • Professional Responsibilities Other activities to support the delivery of the Xxxxxx Xxxxxx Business Plan and Xxxxxx Mission Strategic Plan, as requested by your manager • As an employee, be responsible under the Work Health & Safety Act for the health and safety of all persons they come into contact with, during employment • All hazards and injuries must be reported through the normal process as set out in Xxxxxx Mission’s Work Health, Safety and Rehabilitation Quality Management System and site procedures • Participate in the review and maintenance of industry specific and internal audit processes, as per Xxxxxx Mission’s standard policy and procedures • In relation to Xxxxxx Mission and the Uniting Church in Australia, attend such functions, meetings, seminars, training courses as directed by your supervisor • In relation to Xxxxxx Mission attend worship services as encouraged by your supervisor • Participate on a quarterly basis in Xxxxxx Mission’s Employee contribution and development process • Take responsibility for personal career development and training • Participate in Xxxxxx Mission’s Orientation program, so as to gain an understanding of, and • promote, the application of the EEO, Affirmative Action, Privacy Act, Work Health & Safety Act and other relevant legislation • Administer Xxxxxx Mission’s philosophy of care and other relevant policy documents as appropriate • Demonstrate responsible stewardship of all resources, and willingness to report impropriety in keeping with the values of Xxxxxx Mission • Ensure the reputation and integrity of Xxxxxx Mission is maintained at all times • Maintain confidentiality

  • General Responsibility The Consultant shall, at all times during the Agreement, remain responsible. The Consultant agrees, if requested by the Commissioner of NYSDOT or his or her designee, to present evidence of its continuing legal authority to do business in New York State, integrity, experience, ability, prior performance, and organizational and financial capacity.

  • Personal Responsibility The Participant and his/her parent(s) or legal guardian(s) certify that Participant has no physical or mental condition that precludes him/her from participating in the Activities and that he/she is not participating against medical advice.

  • Academic Freedom and Responsibility 5.1 The Florida Gulf Coast University affirms the principles of academic freedom and responsibility, which are rooted in a conception of the University as a community of scholars united in the pursuit of truth and wisdom in an atmosphere of tolerance and freedom. 5.2 Academic Freedom is the freedom of an employee to discuss all relevant matters in the classroom, to explore all avenues of scholarship, research, and creative expression, to speak freely on all matters of university governance, and to speak, write, or act as an individual, all without institutional discipline or restraint. 5.3 On the part of an employee, Academic Responsibility implies the honest performance of academic duties and obligations, the commitment to support the responsible exercise of freedom by others, and the candor to make it clear that the individual, while he or she may be freely identified as an employee of the University, he/she is not speaking as a representative of the University in matters of public interest. 5.4 On the part of the University, Academic Responsibility implies a commitment to xxxxxx within the FGCU community a climate favorable to responsible exercise of freedom, by adherence to principles of shared governance, which require that in the development of academic policies and processes, the professional judgments of employees are of primary importance.

  • MUTUAL RESPONSIBILITY 6.2.1 The Contractor shall afford the State and separate contractors reasonable opportunity for the introduction and storage of their materials and equipment and the execution of their work, and shall connect and coordinate his / her Work with the work of the State and separate contractors as required by the Contract Documents. 6.2.2 If any part of the Contractor's Work depends for proper execution or results upon the work of the State or any separate contractor, the Contractor shall, prior to proceeding with the Work, promptly report to the Architect any apparent discrepancies or defects in such other work that render it unsuitable for such proper execution and results. Failure of the Contractor so to report shall constitute an acceptance of the State's or separate contractors work as fit and proper to receive 6.2.3 Any costs caused by defective or ill-timed work shall be borne by the party responsible therefor. 6.2.4 Should the Contractor wrongfully cause damage to the work or property of the State, or to other work on the site, the Contractor shall promptly remedy such damage as provided in Subparagraph 10.2.5 of these General Conditions.

  • School Responsibilities Pursuant to §1002.33(8)(e), F.S., the School shall be dissolved under the provisions of law under which the School was organized. Student records and copies of all administrative, operational, and financial records of the School shall be provided to the Sponsor on the date the termination/non-renewal takes effect.

  • General Responsibilities Issuer hereby engages Distributor to act as exclusive distributor of the shares of each class of the Funds. The Funds subject to this Agreement as of the date hereof are identified on SCHEDULE A, which may be amended from time to time in accordance with Section 11 below. Sales of a Fund's shares shall be made only to investors residing in those states in which such Fund is registered. After effectiveness of each Fund’s registration statement, Distributor will hold itself available to receive, as agent for the Fund, and will receive by mail, telex, telephone, or such other method as may be agreed upon between Distributor and Issuer, orders for the purchase of Fund shares, and will accept or reject such orders on behalf of the Fund in accordance with the provisions of the applicable Fund’s prospectus. Distributor will be available to transmit orders, as promptly as possible after it accepts such orders, to the Fund’s transfer agent for processing at the shares’ net asset value next determined in accordance with the prospectuses.

  • Legal Responsibility Nothing herein contained shall render any Party liable for the obligations of any other Party hereunder and the rights, obligations and liabilities of the Parties are several in accordance with their respective obligations, and not joint.
