Professional Duties and Responsibilities. 4.1 The duties and responsibilities of lecturing staff are of a professional nature, are wide ranging and will vary according to the experience and responsibilities of individuals as outlined in individual and generic job descriptions. They may include, but are not restricted to the following:-
4.1.1 All forms of pedagogic work including classroom teaching, tutorial work and associated outreach duties, residential, open and distance learning courses and student work placements. This will normally entail associated organisational administrative work, preparation and assessment, internal verification, student tracking, student support and appropriate welfare and academic counselling responsibilities.
4.1.2 Continuous professional development (CPD) including the conduct of and participation in staff appraisal / performance management and review and in- service training based on an assessment of individual and college needs (see section 5).
4.1.3 Curriculum development work including identification of learner requirements, planning, development and evaluation of courses and course materials and supervision of course provision.
4.1.4 Management and administrative work including administration of courses or of education and training programmes or of significant facets or subdivisions of any of these; responsibilities related to marketing, publicity and public relations; enrolment and school liaison; participation in appropriate team and committee meetings; course management including interviewing and guidance, induction, assessment, retention and attendance, achievement and attainment of good examination results, student progress, placement and destination, monitoring, review and evaluation.
4.1.5 Invigilating examinations
4.1.6 Participation in quality assurance, internal and external control procedures, evaluating modules and courses, and participating in/leading self assessment processes.
4.1.7 Student counselling and welfare work including all specific student welfare and non-academic counselling work and assisting in identifying external sources of specialist support.
4.1.8 Taking part in the liaising with employers and other agencies to identify local skills deficits and demands, to assist the planning of appropriate future provisions.
Professional Duties and Responsibilities. The Superintendent shall devote her full time, labor, and attention to her employment; provided, however, that the Superintendent may undertake outside activities consisting of consultant work, speaking engagements, lectures, and other similar professional activities for consideration, consistent with Board policy. Subject to Board approval, the Superintendent shall have the following authority and responsibility:
(a) To organize, reorganize, and arrange administrative and supervisory staff that, in her judgment, best serves the District;
(b) To administer instructional and business affairs;
(c) To select personnel for employment and assignment;

Each faculty member shall be present on campus or at other approved site for all professional duties that require face-to-face communication, such as classes, meetings, and office hours (except as provided for on-line classes). Each faculty member shall ensure his/her presence and availability via email, telephone, WebCT/Blackboard, or other appropriate means that facilitate the execution of professional duties and obligations.
4. Faculty may telecommute, with pre-approval, in accordance with Board Policy and Administrative Regulations.

As provided in KRS 156.148, the Commissioner shall be the executive and administrative officer of the Board in its administration of all educational matters and functions placed under its management and control. The Commissioner shall carry out all duties assigned to him by law; shall execute under the direction of the Board the educational policies, orders, directives, and administrative functions of the Board; and shall direct the work of all persons employed in the Kentucky Department of Education. As provided in KRS 156.010, the Commissioner shall be the chief executive of the Kentucky Department of Education. The Board, individually and collectively, may refer all criticism, complaints, and suggestions called to its attention to the Commissioner. Except for a closed meeting pursuant to KRS 61.810 to discuss discipline or dismissal of the Commissioner, the Commissioner shall have the right to attend all Board meetings and all Board committee meetings, serve as an ex-officio, non-voting member of all Board committees, and provide administrative recommendations on each item of business considered by the Board and Board committees. No policy or bylaw of the Board shall diminish the Commissioner’s power or authority as prescribed by law. Moreover, all duties assigned to the Commissioner by the Board shall be appropriate to and consistent with the professional role and responsibility of the Commissioner. The Board shall provide the Commissioner with the necessary technology to perform the professional duties and responsibilities set forth herein, including but not limited to a laptop computer, an electronic tablet, and smartphone. The smartphone shall be connected to cellular and data service provided by the Board.

A. Teachers, except in emergencies, shall not be required to perform the following non-professional duties:
1. Supervising duties in school cafeteria;

3. Morning line duty;
4. Lunch line duty;
5. Duty during noon recess in the gymnasium, auditorium, and playground, except duties currently performed by physical education teachers.
B. During inclement weather, the intra-mural program shall be conducted in the gymnasium during lunch period under the supervision of the physical education teachers. The physical education teachers should not be required to teach more total hours than the classroom teachers including lunchtime supervisory activities. If possible, schedules shall be arranged to permit physical education teachers to have lunch period during the regular teacher lunch periods.
C. Members of the teachers’ bargaining unit shall perform the following duties with respect to the transition of students:
1. Upon students’ entry into the building at 9:00 a.m., they will be met by non-classroom members of the bargaining unit as assigned by the building principal, who will escort students to their classrooms. This assignment of non- classroom personnel will be carried out on a rotating basis. This rotation shall be limited to all non-classroom members of the bargaining unit. The escorting shall not take place during a non-classroom teacher’s preparation time. The building principal, in consultation with the BFO building vice president, shall determine the rotation schedule. To the extent possible, the schedule will be developed prior to the first day of teacher attendance for the academic year.
2. Teachers will escort their students to lunch/recess.
3. At the end of lunch/recess period, every classroom teacher will stand outside his/her classroom door. At the end of each lunch/recess period, three classroom teachers on a rotating basis will escort the students from designated pick-up points to the classrooms.
4. At the end of the school day, teachers will escort students to the bus or ▇▇▇▇▇▇ drop-off point in the building.
D. There shall be one teacher planned and building principal approved extended day field trip per grade per year with the exception of Kindergarten. This trip is in addition to the sixth grade Broadway Trip.
