Afternoon Sessions. If the negotiations session is scheduled for the afternoon and for less than five hours, the negotiators will be released at least one hour from the beginning of the bargaining session. Employees who work the swing shift will only be required to work the number of hours of their shift minus the hours spent in negotiations. If their absence places an undue hardship on the department, the employee may be required to complete their shift and be paid overtime. For example, if the shift is an 8 hour shift, and negotiations last 3 hours, the employee shall report to work after the session and be required to work 5 hours. If the employee is normally assigned to work five hours or less per day, he/she will not be required to return to work.
Afternoon Sessions. Teachers shall be available for two thirty minute periods after school two days a week or one sixty minute period one day per week, to provide extra help or other instructional assistance to students. The scheduling of the thirty or sixty minute periods after school shall be approved by the building principal. Teachers shall not be required to perform school-wide detention, which shall be a function of the administrator.

Teachers shall detain those pupils after the close of school, those students who are in need of extra help and/or to make up lessons as follows: Grades Pre –K through 12: two times per week, 2:30 pm-3:00 pm, as scheduled by the building Principal. Teachers shall not be required to perform school-wide detention, which shall be a function of the administrator. Each secondary teacher in the bargaining unit shall be assigned a particular day of the week (which may be reasonably altered from time to time upon reasonable notice to the principal of the building) on which he or she shall be available within his or her usual room or shop following the above schedule for the purpose of providing students with an opportunity for extra instruction, make-up instruction and for other educational purposes.
