Association Stewards. A. Association stewards will be designated by the Association. The number of representatives allowable will be determined in the following manner: 1. The Association may designate 1 xxxxxxx for each County department to perform normal Association representative duties as defined in the contract. There may be up to three (3) additional Association stewards that are to be assigned to work locations that would not otherwise have a xxxxxxx. 2. The Association shall notify the County, in writing, of the names of the stewards and their respective jurisdictional area, at least five (5) working days prior to the effective date of any such designation. B. An alternate xxxxxxx may serve in the absence of the respective representative who is on authorized leave or is otherwise unavailable due to County business. C. Except as hereinafter provided, Association stewards shall be released by their immediate supervisor from duty without loss of pay or accrued leave time to conduct association business in connection with this bargaining unit. All stewards must receive advance approval for release from duty. Such approval shall not be granted if the County determines that operational demands prohibit granting the request. Use of xxxxxxx time shall not be abused by the employee, and use of said time will not be unreasonably withheld by the immediate supervisor. The use of such release time shall not result in liability for overtime compensation. D. Association business is defined as the representation of bargaining unit employees at grievance review hearings, termination hearings, and attendance at labor/management meetings. E. Paid Association time in this Article is in consideration of agreed upon FY 2017 salary and benefit freeze set forth in Article 14(A). This concession complies with SB 241, Section 1(2015).

Association Stewards. A. Association stewards Correction Officers shall be represented by one Xxxxxxx and Assistant Xxxxxxx. During periods of absence of a Xxxxxxx, the Assistant Xxxxxxx shall represent the Correction Officers. Stewards shall be regular full-time Correction Officers and shall have completed a minimum of one year of continuous employment in the Sheriff's Office. Due to a possible conflict of interest, no Corrections Officer promoted to the rank of corporal or sergeant shall hold the position of Association Xxxxxxx or Assistant Xxxxxxx. Section 2. The authority of the Xxxxxxx, or Assistant, is limited to the investigation and presentation of grievances and request for special conferences during their working hours, without loss of time or pay, upon having received permission from the sheriff or their designated representative to do so. The Sheriff shall grant permission within a reasonable time, after the first hour of the shift, for such Xxxxxxx to leave their work for these purposes subject to overriding work consideration. The privilege of such Xxxxxxx leaving their work during working hours without loss of time or pay is subject to the understanding that the time will be designated by devoted to the Associationproper processing of grievances and will not be abused. Abuse of such privilege is property grounds for discipline up to and including discharge. The number Xxxxxxx, and Assistant, are required to record time spent. All such Stewards will perform their regular duties in addition to the handling of representatives allowable will be determined in the following manner:grievances as provided herein. 1Section 3. The Association will furnish the Employer with the names of its Xxxxxxx(s) and Correction Officers who are employed within the unit and changes as they may designate 1 xxxxxxx for each County department occur from time to perform normal time in such personnel so that the Employer may at all times be advised as to the authority of the individual representatives of the Association representative duties as defined in the contract. The Association bargaining committee shall notify consist of two (2) Correction Officers.
