Common use of Bereavement and Funeral Leave Clause in Contracts

Bereavement and Funeral Leave. In the event of death in the immediate family of a regular employee, the employee will be granted up to three (3) days leave of absence from work with no loss of regular straight-time pay; said leave of absence may be split between leave for bereavement and leave for the funeral service. The term immediate family shall mean spouse, mother, father, child, brother, sister, mother-in-law, father-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in- law, grandmother, grandfather, or grandchild of the employee. The Employer may grant additional unpaid leave required for travel in such circumstances.
