Bereavement Leave (Employees hired before Ratification. (a) In the event of a death of a spouse, a parent, a child (including step-child), xxxx of the employee, grandchild or a relative permanently residing in the Employee’s household or with whom the Employee permanently resides, an Employee so bereaved shall be allowed leave with pay not exceeding five (5) working days. The days shall normally be consecutive, and shall be taken at the time of death, funeral or memorial service.

  • Bereavement Leave of Absence An employee who has a bereavement in their immediate family will be granted up to and including five (5) days absence with pay. Immediate family means spouse, (as defined in Section 2(b) of Appendix 2), parents, and child. For this provision “step” relationships are considered as immediate family. An employee who has a bereavement in their family will be granted up to and including three (3) days absence with pay. Family means brother, sister, parents-in-law, grandparents, grandchildren, son-in-law and daughter-in-law. For this provision “step” relationships are considered as family. In the event of the death of an employee's brother-in-law, sister-in-law or grand parents- in-law the employee will be given one (1) days' leave with pay to attend the funeral. An additional day's traveling time, in each direction, will be granted in order for the employee to attend the funeral if such is to be held in excess of 600 kilometers from the employees’ home.

  • Cyclic Employment Leave Leave without pay will be granted to cyclic year employees during their off season.

  • Paid Bereavement Leave 12.19.1 An Employee shall be granted a minimum of five (5) regularly scheduled consecutive work days, without loss of pay or benefits, in the case of death or serious illness of the Employee's spouse or common-law spouse.

  • Bereavement Leave (a) Upon the death of an employee's spouse, spouse to include same sex partner, child or stepchild, an employee shall be granted leave up to a maximum of five (5) continuous calendar days without loss of pay. One of the days of leave shall include the day of the funeral or equivalent service. Additional days off with or without pay may be granted by the Employer. Part-time employees will be credited with seniority and service for all such leave.   • ARTICLE BEREAVEMENT LEAVE An Employee who would otherwise have been at work shall be allowed up to three (3) days’ leave with pay in the event of the death of a member of immediate family and such leave will not be charged against the Employee’s attendance credits. For the purpose of this section, “immediate family”, shall include the Employee’s spouse, common-law spouse, mother, father, stepmother, stepfather, mother-in-law, father-in-law, son, daughter, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, stepson, stepdaughter, brother, sister, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, xxxxxx parents, legal guardians, grandchildren and the grandparents of the Employee and spouse or any relative with whom the Employee lives. Necessary travelling time in addition to the three (3) days may be granted at the discretion of the Police Chief. It is the responsibility of the Employee to request this leave from supervisor. It is the responsibility of the supervisor to obtain the decision of the Police Chief, or designate, as applicable, and for advising the Employee of the decision made.

  • Vacation Leave on Retirement ‌ An employee scheduled to retire and to receive pension benefits under the Public Service Pension Plan Rules or who has reached the mandatory retiring age, shall be granted full vacation entitlement for the final calendar year of service.

  • Bereavement Leave With Pay For the purpose of this clause, immediate family is defined as father, mother (or alternatively stepfather, stepmother or xxxxxx parent), brother, sister, spouse (including common-law spouse resident with the employee), child (including child of common-law spouse), stepchild or xxxx of the employee, father-in-law, mother-in-law, and relative permanently residing in the employee’s household or with whom the employee permanently resides.

  • Overtime-Eligible Employees Unpaid Meal Periods The Employer and the Union agree to unpaid meal periods that vary from and supersede the unpaid meal period requirements required by WAC 000-000-000. Unpaid meal periods for employees working more than five (5) consecutive hours, if entitled, will be a minimum of thirty (30) minutes and will be scheduled as close to the middle of the work shift as possible, taking into account the Employer’s work requirements and the employee’s wishes. Employees working three (3) or more hours longer than a normal workday will be allowed an additional thirty (30) minute unpaid meal period. When an employee’s unpaid meal period is interrupted by work duties, the employee will be allowed to resume their unpaid meal period following the interruption, if possible, to complete the unpaid meal period. In the event an employee is unable to complete the unpaid meal period due to operational necessity, the employee will be entitled to compensation, which will be computed based on the actual number of minutes worked within the unpaid meal period. Meal periods may not be used for late arrival or early departure from work and meal and rest periods will not be combined.
