Bereavement Leave. (a) An employee with seniority shall be granted bereavement leave in the event of the death of the employee's parent, spouse, common-law partner, same sex partner, persons in loco parentis, child, brother, sister, grandchild, without loss of regular pay for seven (7) consecutive calendar days, one of which must be the day of the funeral, provided pay shall not be given for any of such seven (7) days which falls on a holiday or which does not fall on a regular working day. Bereavement Leave. Such bereavement leave shall be taken at the time of that bereavement or at the time the Employee received notification of such bereavement. Proof of bereavement may be required by the Director of Labour Relations or designate. The definition of immediate family shall be deemed to apply equally to Employees engaged in a common-law relationship that are deemed to be spouses pursuant to the Family Law Reform Act, step-parent without loss of regular pay for as amended. Where the burial occurs outside the Province, reasonable travelling time up to five (5) consecutive calendar daysadditional working days without pay may be granted at the discretion of the Employee’s Department Head. In order to receive the paid leave provided for in this Clause, one absence must result in loss of which time and pay from a regular shift and the Employee must be have worked the day of before or the funeralday after, provided that an Employee granted leave without pay for compassionate purposes within fourteen (14) calendar days prior to death shall not be given for any lose benefits under this Clause. One Employee designated by the President of such five Local 5167 (5or their alternate) days which falls on a holiday or which does not fall on a regular working day.
(c) An employee with seniority shall be granted bereavement leave in the event of the death of the employee’s aunt, uncle, niece or nephew without loss of regular pay for two (2) consecutive calendar days, one of which must be the day of the funeral, provided pay shall not be given for any of such days which falls on a holiday or which does not fall on a regular working day.
(d) An employee with seniority from time to time shall be granted one (1) day bereavement leave which must be off with pay for the day purpose of attending the funeral without loss of regular pay in the event of the death of a relative living in the employee’s household. Such member of Local 5167 or a relative shall include a person related by marriage, adoption or common-lawretired member of Local 5167.
(e) If the burial does not immediately follow the funeral, the employee may request in writing to use one of the days of leave without loss of regular pay available under 20.01(a), (b), (c) or (d) above at a later date to attend the burial.

11.9.3 Every Unit Member shall be entitled to one (1) day leave of absence on account of the death of a brother-in-law or sister-in-law. No deduction shall be made from the salary of such employee, or brother-in-law, step-parent without loss of regular pay for five (5) consecutive calendar days, one of which must nor shall such leave be the day deducted from leave granted by other sections of the funeral, provided pay shall not be given for any of such five (5) days which falls on a holiday or which does not fall on a regular working dayEducation Code.
(c) An employee with seniority 11.9.4 Unit Members shall be granted bereavement necessary leave in the event of absence, not to exceed four days, or five days if out-of-state travel is required, on account of the death of any member of his/her immediate family. No deduction shall be made from the employee’s auntsalary of such employee nor shall such leave be deducted from leave granted by other sections of this code. A Unit Member may take bereavement leave in one day increments, unclenot to exceed four working days or five working days if out-of-state travel is required for any one bereavement occasion. The one day increments of bereavement leave need not be consecutive, niece or nephew without loss of regular pay for two (2) consecutive calendar days, one of which but must be the day taken within thirty (30) calendar days of the funeral, provided pay shall not be given first request for any of such days which falls on a holiday or which does not fall on a regular working daybereavement leave.
(d) An employee with seniority shall 11.9.5 When additional time is requested after “bereavement leave” has been exhausted or when the deceased is not an immediate family member, then Personal Necessity may be granted one (1) day bereavement leave which must be the day of the funeral without loss of regular pay in the event of the death of a relative living in the employee’s household. Such a relative shall include a person related by marriage, adoption or common-lawused.
(e) If the burial does not immediately follow the funeral, the employee may request in writing to use one of the days of leave without loss of regular pay available under 20.01(a), (b), (c) or (d) above at a later date to attend the burial.

Bereavement Leave. In the case of death in the immediate family of a full-time teacher employed under regular contract, the teacher is entitled to be absent without loss of compensation for a period extending not more than five (a5) An employee with seniority shall school days within a fourteen (14) calendar day period beyond such death, for the purpose of attending the last rites and attending to other personal matters of the immediate family member, provided, however, that said rites occur while said teacher is performing duties as assigned by the board under a valid teacher’s contract; and that said rites do not occur during the time when said teacher is absent from assigned duties due to vacation, leave of absence, sick leave, or personal leave, or any other leaves which may have been previously granted or approved by the board. “Immediate family” is defined for purposes of this provision as including any xxxxxx child, step-sibling, step-parent, step-child, grandfather, grandmother, father, mother, brother, sister, father-in-law, mother-in-law, grandchild, or other relative who, at the time of death, was living as a member of the teacher’s household. Such a relative shall include a person related by marriage, adoption or common-law.
(e) If household of the burial does not immediately follow teacher at the funeraltime of death, the employee may request in writing teacher is entitled to use be absent one of the days of leave (1) day without loss of regular pay available compensation, provided, however, said teacher does attend in person the last rites of the stated family member or close friend not living in the household of said teacher at the time of death; that said rites occur while said teacher is performing duties as assigned by the board under 20.01(a)a valid teacher’s contract; and that said rites do not occur during the time when said teacher is absent from assigned duties due to vacation, (b)or leaves of absence, (c) or (d) above at a later date to attend sick leave, or leaves for personal business, or any other leaves which may have been previously granted or approved by the burialboard.

Bereavement Leave. Bereavement Leave. Bereavement Leave. (a) An employee with seniority shall be granted bereavement leave in the event with pay at his/her regular rate as follows:
(i) For a maximum of the death of the employee's parent, spouse, common-law partner, same sex partner, persons in loco parentis, child, brother, sister, grandchild, without loss of regular pay for seven 4.67 consecutive days (752.50 hours) consecutive calendar days, one of which must be the day of the funeral, in the event of the death of the employee's mother, father, spouse, son, daughter, brother, sister, step-child, step-parent, persons acting in loco parentis or a relative living in the household of the employee, provided that pay shall not be given for any of such seven 4.67 days (752.50 hours) days which falls on a holiday or which does not fall on a regular working day. (db) An In the event that the funeral referred to in 20.04 (a) is held in a location outside the employee's place of residence, an employee with seniority shall be granted one upon request reasonable travelling time required up to a maximum of two (12) day bereavement leave which must be the day of the funeral without loss of regular pay in the event of the death of a relative living in the employee’s household. Such a relative shall include a person related by marriage, adoption or common-law.
(e) If the burial does not immediately follow additional days provided that such employee attend the funeral, the employee may request in writing to use one of the days of leave without loss of regular pay available under 20.01(a), (b), (c) or (d) above at a later date to attend the burial.

Bereavement Leave. (b) Employees shall be entitled to leave without loss of regular pay up to a maximum of three (3) continuous calendar days commencing midnight following the death in the event of death of the employee's son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law or sister-in-law, or brother-in-law, step-parent without loss of regular pay for five (5) consecutive calendar days, one of which must be the day of the funeral, provided pay shall not be given for any of such five (5) days which falls on a holiday or which does not fall on a regular working day.
(c) An employee with seniority shall be granted bereavement leave in the event of the death of the employee’s aunt, uncle, niece or nephew nephew, or the grandparents of the spouse of the employee.
(c) Based on operational requirements, the primary home support employee shall be entitled to leave without loss of regular pay or benefits for two up to a maximum of four (24) consecutive calendar dayshours to attend the funeral of a client who is still on the caseload and who has been under the employee’s care for a minimum of one (1) year. This leave shall apply to only one employee per client.
(d) In the event that the funeral of a relative listed in Article 20.09 (a) and (b) occurs later than the period of bereavement leave, one the employee may defer the last day of which must be bereavement leave until the day of the funeral, provided pay shall not be given for any of such days which falls on a holiday or which does not fall on a regular working day.
(d) An employee with seniority shall be granted one (1) day bereavement leave which must be the day of the funeral without loss of regular pay in the event of the death of a relative living in the employee’s household. Such a relative shall include a person related by marriage, adoption or common-law.
(e) An employee shall notify the Supervisor as soon as is reasonably practical of the need for bereavement leave pursuant to this Article.
(f) If an employee is on vacation or sick leave at the burial does not immediately follow time of the funeralbereavement, the employee may request in writing shall be granted bereavement leave and be credited the appropriate number of days to use one of the days of her vacation or sick leave without loss of regular pay available under 20.01(a), (b), (c) or (d) above at a later date to attend the burialcredits.

(b) An employee with seniority shall be granted bereavement leave in the event of the death of the employee's common-law child, stepstepparent, stepchild, son-childin-law, grandparentsdaughter-in- law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, mother-in-law, father-in-law, son-in-lawgrandparent, daughter-in-lawgrandchild, sister-in-lawfiancé, xxxxx, nephew or brother-in-law, step-parent without loss of regular pay for five (5) consecutive calendar days, one of which must be the day of the funeral, provided pay shall not be given for any of such five (5) days which falls on a holiday or which does not fall on a regular working daypermanent xxxx.
(cb) An employee with seniority shall be granted bereavement leave of up to two (2) consecutive days when necessary, without loss of regular wages, in the event of the a death of the employee’s aunt, uncle, niece guardian or nephew former guardian. If the funeral referenced to in section (a) or (b) is more than two hundred (200) kilometers from the town of Virden, said employee is entitled to one (1) day with pay for travel time.
(c) An employee may be granted up to one (1) day's leave of absence without loss of regular pay for two (2) consecutive calendar days, one of which must be the day of the funeral, provided pay wages to attend a funeral as a pallbearer. Bereavement Leave. 12.01 An employee will be granted, upon the death of a spouse, child, stepchild, mother, stepmother, father, stepfather, brother, stepbrother or sister, stepsister five (5) consecutive working days' leave without a salary deduction.

12.06 Where an employee's compassionate leave commenced immediately prior to his/her Winter, Spring, or Summer Break, the event weekdays (other than Statutory Holidays) that fall during such break shall be considered to form part of the death of a relative living in the employee’s household. Such a relative shall include a person related by marriage, adoption or common-lawleave.
(e) If the burial does not immediately follow the funeral, the employee may request in writing to use one of the days of leave without loss of regular pay available under 20.01(a), (b), (c) or (d) above at a later date to attend the burial.

(db) An In the event that the funeral referred to in 20.04(a) is held in a location outside the employee's place of residence, an employee with seniority shall be granted one upon request reasonable travelling time required up to a maximum of two (12) day bereavement leave which must be the day of the funeral without loss of regular pay in the event of the death of a relative living in the employee’s household. Such a relative shall include a person related by marriage, adoption or common-law.
(e) If the burial does not immediately follow additional days provided that such employee attends the funeral, the employee may request in writing to use one of the days of leave without loss of regular pay available under 20.01(a), (b), (c) or (d) above at a later date to attend the burial.

In the event that circumstances occur during an employee's vacation period, the employee shall be eligible to have their time off changed to bereavement leave in rather than vacation. The amount of leave allowed would be equivalent to the event number of days that would have been granted had the death of the employee’s aunt, uncle, niece or nephew without loss of regular pay for two (2) consecutive calendar days, one of which must be the day of the funeralemployee been at work, provided pay shall not be given for any the Employer receives suitable notification of such days which falls on a holiday or which does not fall on a regular working day.

Bereavement Leave. (a) An employee with seniority 13.01 If a death occurs in the immediate family of an Employee when the Employee is at work, or scheduled to go to work, then the Employee shall be granted bereavement leave with pay for the remainder of the Employee’s tour of duty for that day.
13.02 If a death occurs in the current immediate family of an Employee, the Employee shall be granted a Bereavement Leave of seven (7) calendar days commencing on the calendar day following the day of the death of the family member. The Employee shall not have a loss of regular pay for shifts not worked during the Bereavement Leave up to a maximum of thirty-seven point five (37.5) hours.
(a) In the event that the funeral for any of the persons listed in Article 13.05 does not take place within the period of bereavement leave, the employee may defer the final day of their bereavement leave without loss of regular pay until the day of the funeral.
(b) Bereavement Leave may also include additional leave of absence without pay as travel time.
13.04 In the event of the death of anyone permanently residing in the employeeEmployee's parenthousehold or anyone with whom the Employee permanently resides, spouse, common-law partner, same sex partner, persons in loco parentis, child, brother, sister, grandchild, without the Employee shall be granted one (1) day Xxxxxxxxxxx Leave granted on the day of the funeral. The Employee shall not have a loss of regular pay for seven (7) consecutive calendar days, one of which must be the day of the funeral, provided pay shall a shift not be given for any of such seven (7) days which falls worked on a holiday or which does not fall on a regular working that day.

(d) An employee with seniority shall be granted one (1) day bereavement leave which must be the day of the funeral without loss of regular pay in the event of the death of a relative living in the employee’s household. For clarification, this does not include the employee’s household. Such a relative shall include a person related by marriage, adoption spouse’s aunt or common-lawuncle.
(e) If the burial does not immediately follow the funeral, the Bereavement leave is applicable to all hours which part-time employees have agreed to work.
(f) An employee may request in writing who is on vacation and suffers a loss covered by bereavement leave shall be entitled to use one of his bereavement leave and have his vacation rescheduled.
(g) Upon request by the employee, where burial occurs outside the province or more than 200 km from the employee’s residence, such leave shall include up to two (2) extra days of leave without loss of regular pay available under 20.01(a), which may be taken as vacation or statutory holidays.
(b), (ch) or (d) An employee who is separated and living in a common-law relationship cannot claim to have two families. The employee must choose which spouse meets the criteria referred to in the above at a later date to attend the burialparagraphs.

Bereavement Leave. (a) An employee with seniority In the event of a death in the immediate family, a Full-time Employee shall be granted entitled to bereavement leave with pay for a period of five (5) consecutive working days, including the day of the funeral. Bereavement Leave. Bereavement Leave. (a) An employee with seniority 13.01 If a death occurs in the immediate family of an Employee when the Employee is at work, or scheduled to go to work, then the Employee shall be granted bereavement leave with pay for the remainder of the Employee’s tour of duty for that day.
13.02 If a death occurs in the current immediate family of an Employee, the Employee shall be granted a Bereavement Leave of seven (7) calendar days commencing on the calendar day following the day of the death of the family member. The Employee shall not have a loss of regular pay for shifts not worked during the Bereavement Leave up to a maximum of thirty-seven point five (37.5) hours.
(a) In the event that the funeral for any of the persons listed in Article 13.05 does not take place within the period of bereavement leave, the employee may defer the final day of their bereavement leave without loss of regular pay until the day of the funeral.
(b) Bereavement Leave may also include additional leave of absence without pay as travel time.
13.04 In the event of the death of anyone permanently residing in the employeeEmployee's parenthousehold or anyone with whom the Employee permanently resides, spouse, common-law partner, same sex partner, persons in loco parentis, child, brother, sister, grandchild, without the Employee shall be granted one (1) day Bereavement Leave granted on the day of the funeral. Bereavement Leave. In the event of the death of an employee’s brother-in-law or sister-in-law the employee shall receive two (2) consecutive working days leave without loss of the employee’s regular pay from the employee’s regularly scheduled hours. Bereavement Leave. (a) An employee with seniority shall be granted bereavement leave in 14.1 In the event of a death in a non-probationary employee's immediate family, the employee will be granted, upon request, up to five (5) paid working days off not to exceed forty (40) hours. The five (5) working days will start at the employee's option on the day of death or the day following the day of death. In the event the funeral does not fall within the above-mentioned time period, and provided the employee did not use any Bereavement Leave benefit, or used less than the five (5) days of such benefit, the employee will be allowed to use the balance of Bereavement Leave days to attend the funeral.
14.2 Requests for Bereavement Leave extensions for immediate family members, using accrued personal leave time, shall not be unreasonably denied. Requests for personal leave time for the death of other family members not categorized as “immediate” also shall not be unreasonably denied.
14.3 All non-probationary employees shall be eligible to receive straight-time pay only for all regular hours that the employee would have normally worked during the Bereavement Leave period. The Division Manager may request that the employee provide satisfactory proof of death of the immediate family member. If a holiday occurs while an employee is on Bereavement Leave, the employee will receive compensation for the holiday only.
14.4 For purposes of this Article, "immediate family" is defined as the employee's parentmother, spousefather, common-law partner, same sex partner, persons in loco parentis, childsister, brother, sisterson, grandchilddaughter, without loss of regular pay for seven spouse or Domestic Partner (7) consecutive calendar days, one of which must be the day of the funeral, provided pay shall not be given for any of such seven (7) days which falls on a holiday or which does not fall on a regular working day.
(b) An employee with seniority shall be granted bereavement leave in the event of the death of the employee's common-law child, step-child, grandparentsas further defined below), mother-in-law, father-in-law, songrandparent or spouse's grandparent, grandchildren, stepfather, stepmother, stepchild, step brother, step sister, legal guardian or xxxx. Bereavement Leave. (a) An 11.01 If an employee with seniority shall is absent on sick leave, long service leave leading into retirement, a statutory holiday or is absent from the service of the Division for any reason whatsoever, then the employee will not be granted bereavement leave in addition to any one of the aforesaid absences.

For the purposes of this Article a relative is defined as an aunt, uncle, cousin, niece or which does not fall on a regular working daynephew.

11.05 An employee will be granted one (1) day bereavement leave which must be without a salary deduction to act as a pallbearer at a funeral if the funeral is held within the City of Winnipeg and an additional one-half (½) day without a salary deduction if the funeral is held further than one hundred (100) kilometres from the perimeter of the funeral without loss City of regular pay in Winnipeg. For the event purposes of this Article, “spouse” shall include:
(a) a person of the death of same gender with whom an employee has established residence and lived in a relative living in the employee’s household. Such a relative shall include marriage-like relationship for at least twelve (12) months and has publicly represented that person as his/her spouse; or
(b) a person related by marriage, adoption or common-law.
(e) If the burial does not immediately follow the funeral, the employee may request in writing to use one of the days of leave without loss of regular pay available under 20.01(a), opposite gender with whom an employee has established residence and lived in a marriage-like relationship for at least twelve (b), (c12) or (d) above at a later date to attend the burialmonths and has publicly represented that person as his/her spouse.

A regular employee may be allowed up to two (2) hours of bereavement leave without loss of regular pay available under 20.01(a), (b), (c) or (d) above at a later date to attend the burialfuneral of a currently employed co-worker or former co-worker, provided however, that such permission is granted by the employee's Department Head or their designated representative.
E. Bereavement Leave may be taken non-consecutively with approval from the Department Head or Human Resources Director when circumstances warrant.

Bereavement Leave. (b) An employee with seniority shall be granted bereavement leave in the event of the death of the employee's common-law childparent (includes xxxxxx parent), step-childbrother, grandparentssister, mothergrandparent, spouse’s grandparent, grandchild, son-in-law, daughter-in- law, father-in-law, sonmother-in-law, daughterbrother-in-law, sister-in-law, or brother-in-law, step-parent without loss of regular pay for five (5) consecutive calendar days, one of which must be the day of the funeral, provided pay shall not be given for any of such five (5) days which falls on a holiday or which does not fall on a regular working day.
(c) An employee with seniority shall be granted bereavement leave in the event of the death of the employee’s aunt, uncle, niece or nephew without loss of regular pay for two (2) consecutive calendar days, one of which must be the day of the funeral, provided pay shall not be given for any of such days which falls on a holiday or which does not fall on a regular working day.
(d) An employee with seniority shall be granted one (1) day bereavement leave which must be the day of xxxxxx child. Attendance at the funeral without loss of regular pay is not mandatory. A nurse in a common-law marriage will have co-habited with the common- law spouse for at least twelve (12) months. In the event of the death of a relative living spouse, child, or where the death occurs outside of Renfrew County, an additional two (2) days' leave with pay may be granted at the discretion of management. One day leave shall be granted without loss of salary or wages to attend a funeral of an aunt or uncle or as a pallbearer. A request for such leave shall be given twenty-four (24) hours in the employee’s household. Bereavement Leave. 5) All paid bereavement days must be days on which the Employee was scheduled to work. Bereavement Leave. (5) Grandparent includes the parent, grandparent and great- grandparent of an employee=s parent;
(6) Grandchild includes the child, grandchild and great-grandchild of an employee=s child.
(b) In the event of the death of a family member of her extended family, an employee shall be entitled to three (3) consecutive calendar days leave of absence without loss of regular pay for five (5) consecutive calendar daysor benefits. Extended family means an employee=s aunt, one of which must be the day of the funeraluncle, provided pay shall not be given for any of such five (5) days which falls on a holiday nephew or which does not fall on a regular working dayniece.
(c) An employee with seniority shall be granted bereavement the day of the funeral or memorial service, without loss of pay or benefits, in the event the death of any person for whom the employee is serving as a pallbearer.
(d) An employee may be granted one-half (2) day without loss of pay or benefits to attend a funeral as a mourner.
(e) An employee shall be entitled to use vacation, time off in lieu of accumulated overtime, personal leave or other accumulated leave in the event of the death of a close friend or relative for which other bereavement leave is not otherwise provided.
(f) In the employee’s auntevent of a death, uncle, niece or nephew without loss an employee shall be entitled to only one of regular pay for the leaves set out in the foregoing subsections of this Article 18.01 and shall not be entitled to combine the leaves.
(g) An employee shall be entitled to a leave of absence of two (2) consecutive calendar days, one days without loss of which must pay or benefits to act as an administrator or executor of an estate. This time may be taken immediately following the day of bereavement leave or at a separate time mutually agreed upon with her manager. Verification for this leave may be required by the funeral, provided pay shall not be given for any of such days which falls on a holiday or which does not fall on a regular working dayEmployer.
(dh) Employees may apply to the Director of Human Resources or designate for an extension of the above times. Employees may make such requests through their managers, but the decision will be made by the Director of Human Resources or designate. The Director of Human Resources or designate shall consider travel times and any other compelling circumstances in determining whether to grant an extension. This time may be with or without pay at the discretion of the Employer.
(i) An employee with seniority shall be granted one (1) day entitled to bereavement leave which must be shall notify her supervisor of her absence from work as soon as reasonably possible. Upon returning to work following bereavement leave, an employee shall provide details on the day length of absence, relationship to the deceased person and the type of bereavement leave. The Employer may require verification of the funeral without loss of regular pay in the event of the death of a relative living in the employee’s household. Such a relative shall include a person related by marriage, adoption or common-lawdeath.

(c) One (1) working day bereavement leave: (to be taken on any working day between the date of death and the date of the funeral, inclusive); death of brother-in-law or sister-in-law.
(2) The bereavement leaves provided in sub paragraph (1) above shall commence with the working day that is closest to the date of death. In all cases, or brother-in-law, step-parent without loss the employee shall forthwith notify the employer of regular pay for such death. When the time of death is on an employee's working day and an employee is entitled to a five (5) consecutive calendar daysworking day or three (3) working day bereavement leave, one such employee shall have an option. Bereavement Leave. Bereavement Leave. (f) Sister-in-law includes not only the traditional definition of husband’s sister as sister-in-law, but also husband’s brother’s wife as sister-in-law. Bereavement Leave. 26.01 Upon application an employee shall be granted seven (a7) consecutive calendar days leave of absence without loss of salary or benefits, one of which shall be the day of the funeral in the event of the death of a mother, father, person in loco parentis, spouse, son, daughter, brother, sister or grandchild. Additional bereavement leave may be granted under Article 26.05. For clarification purposes of the article, spouse shall mean a husband or a wife. The employee shall be reimbursed at his/her regular straight time rate of pay for regularly scheduled working days lost, provided pay up to a maximum of three (3) days, except in the case of the death of a spouse (legal or common law or same gender spouse), son or daughter, step-son or step-daughter, when the maximum shall not be given for any of such seven five (75) days which falls on a holiday or which does not fall on a regular working daydays.

Bereavement Leave. In the event of death in the immediate family of a bargaining unit member or their spouse, the employee shall be entitled to three (a3) An regularly scheduled workdays without loss of pay for bereavement. The leave period shall commence with the date of death and end with the date of the funeral/memorial service, not to exceed six (6) months beyond the decedents date of death. If the funeral/memorial service of an immediate family member is held more than two hundred and fifty (250) miles from the Township Civic Center Offices, the employee will be granted one (1) additional bereavement day with seniority pay to attend said service. Bereavement Leave. Part-Time employees are entitled to only fifty per cent of the following bereavement leave according to paragraph a, b, c, and d.

Bereavement Leave. Regular Employees shall have Bereavement Leave entitlement as follows: When death occurs to a member of a regular employee’s immediate family, the employee will be granted, upon request:

(c) Every employee shall be granted bereavement entitled to special leave with pay up to a maximum of one (1) work day in the event of the death of the employee's common-law child, step-child, grandparents, mother’s brother-in-law, father-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, law or sister-in-law, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, xxxxxx parent, or the grandparent of the spouse of the employee and may be granted up to two (2) days for travel and shall be paid for those travel days which are not regularly scheduled days of rest.
(d) In the event of a death of the employee’s sister-in-law or brother-in-lawlaw and subject to the paid leave provided pursuant to Article 21.02(c) above, step-parent without loss upon request, an employee shall be granted up to an additional 4 days of regular pay for unpaid leave. For clarity, the paid and unpaid leave days under Article 21.02(c) and (d) cannot exceed a total of five (5) consecutive calendar working days, one .
(e) Every employee shall be entitled to an unpaid leave of which must be the day absence of the funeral, provided pay shall not be given for any of such up to five (5) consecutive work days which falls on a holiday or which does not fall on a regular working day.
(c) An employee with seniority shall be granted bereavement leave in the event of upon the death of the employee’s aunt, uncle, niece or nephew without loss of regular pay for two (2) consecutive calendar days, one of which must be the day of the funeral, provided pay shall not be given for any of such days which falls on a holiday or which does not fall on a regular working dayguardian.

(c) An In the event an employee with seniority shall is required to travel more than 250 kilometres (one way) to attend a funeral, one additional day of bereavement leave may be granted bereavement leave in at the event discretion of the death Fire Chief. Employees may be required to furnish reasonable proof of which must be the day of attendance at the funeral, provided pay shall not be given for any of such days which falls on a holiday or which does not fall on a regular working day.
(d) An employee with seniority shall be granted one (1) day bereavement leave which must be the day of the funeral without loss of regular pay in the event of the death of a relative living in the employee’s household. Such a relative shall include a person related by marriage, adoption or common-law.

Bereavement Leave. 26.01 Upon application an employee shall be granted seven (a7) consecutive calendar days leave of absence without loss of salary or benefits, one of which shall be the day of the funeral in the event of the death of a mother, father, person in loco parentis, spouse, son, daughter, brother, sister or grandchild. Bereavement Leave. 66.1 Bereavement leave with pay of:
66.1.1 five (a5) An employee with seniority shall consecutive working days will be granted bereavement in the event of the death of a member of the employee's immediate family. Upon request, the employee may be granted additional leave of absence without pay. Immediate family of the employee is defined as spouse, parent, child, brother, sister, fiancée. Step-parent, step-children, step-brother and step-sister will be considered as members of the employee's immediate family. "Spouse" will include common- law or same sex relationship and will be deemed to mean a man or woman who resided with the employee and who was held out publicly as her spouse for a period of at least one year before the death.

66.2 Bereavement leave will be extended by two (2) additional days with pay if travel in excess of regular pay three hundred and twenty (320) kilometers one way from the employees residence is necessary for five (5) consecutive calendar days, one the purpose of which must be the day of attending the funeral, provided pay shall not be given for any of such five (5) days which falls on a holiday or which does not fall on a regular working day.
(c) An 66.3 Where special circumstances exist, an employee with seniority shall be granted may request that bereavement leave be divided into two periods, notwithstanding the requirements in Articles 65 and 66 for consecutive bereavement days. Such a request is subject to the approval of CLS. In no circumstances will an employee be eligible for more days off with pay than she would have been eligible to receive had the bereavement leave been taken in one undivided period.
66.4 In the event of the death of the employee’s aunt, uncle, niece another relative or nephew without loss of regular friend CLS may grant time off with pay for two (2) consecutive calendar days, one of which must be the day of the funeral, provided pay shall not be given for any of such days which falls on a holiday or which does not fall on a regular working day.
(d) An employee with seniority shall be granted one (1) day bereavement leave which must be the day of the funeral without loss of regular pay in the event of the death of a relative living in the employee’s household. Such a relative shall include a person related by marriage, adoption or common-law.
(e) If the burial does not immediately follow the funeral, the employee may request in writing to use one of the days of leave without loss of regular pay available under 20.01(a), (b), (c) or (d) above at a later date to attend the burialfuneral service.
66.5 In calculating paid bereavement entitlement for part-time employees, the provisions of Article 66 shall apply only to regularly scheduled working days and additional scheduled work shifts which fall within a ten (10) calendar day period, commencing with the date of death, or the date of the Employee’s awareness that a death has occurred.

(c) For the sake of clarity, it is stated that an employee, while in receipt of short- term disability (STD) or long-term disability (LTD) or while on a leave of absence or while laid off, shall not be entitled to bereavement leave.
32.02 Saturdays, Sundays and paid holidays shall not be considered normal days of work. Saturdays and Sundays are considered normal days of work for employees scheduled to work such days. An employee shall not be disqualified for bereavement leave because the employee is on vacation and may take the employee’s household. Such a relative shall include a person related vacation days at another time to be scheduled by marriage, adoption or common-lawthe Company after conference with the employee.
(e) If 32.03 Proof of death shall be provided by employee if required by the burial does not immediately follow Company.

(1) day from (a, b, c, d, e) shall be held in reserve for the purposes of attending the internment. For the purposes of clarification of the above paragraphs, a spouse shall be defined as the person with whom the employee may request in writing to use one currently cohabits with and an in-law shall be defined as a “blood” relative of the days current spouse and shall include same sex relationships. The Employer may require the employee to offer documentation of the death of a relative to support a claim for paid leave without loss under this paragraph. In no instance can the claim for paid leave be deferred to a point in time other than immediately coinciding with the time of regular pay available under 20.01(a), (b), (c) or (d) above at a later date to attend the burialdeath.

(h) Where circumstances make the completion of the Leave of Absence form impossible, the employee will notify the Supervisor/General Manager of the need for the leave and secure verbal approval. On return to work the Employee will then complete the Leave of Absence form.
(i) When an employee is acting as pall bearer, trustee or other legal capacity the employee shall be paid at the regular rate of pay for ½ working day leave of absence.
(j) In consultation with the Employer, and by mutual agreement, when the employee feels the need for additional time off work, for reasons pertaining to bereavement, the length of this leave shall be determined by the Employer, and may be granted without pay.
(k) An employee with seniority shall be granted entitled to one (1) day bereavement leave which must be the day of the funeral without loss of regular with pay in the event of the death of a relative living person other than those enumerated in Article 16, in order to attend the funeral of such person, to a maximum of two times per calendar year.

(e) If a death occurs for which bereavement leave is provided under this Article, and the burial Employee has scheduled vacation days during the bereavement period, bereavement leave shall be substituted for the scheduled vacation days.
(f) In the event that the funeral for any of the persons listed in Articles 20.16 (b) or (c) does not immediately follow take place within the funeralperiod of bereavement leave provided but occurs later, the employee may request in writing defer up to use one of the 2 days of their bereavement leave without loss of regular pay available under 20.01(ato be taken on and adjacent to the day of the funeral (i.e. the day immediately before or after the funeral).
(g) Based on operational requirements, the primary home support employee shall be entitled to leave without loss of pay or benefits for up to a maximum of four (b), (c4) or (d) above at a later date hours to attend the burialfuneral of a client who is still on the caseload and who has been under the employee’s care for a minimum of one (1) year. This leave shall apply to only one employee per client.

One of the working days may be taken at some later date, with the approval of Management, provided that the need is related to the death or bereavement.
11.7.2 An employee will be provided bereavement leave with pay for a period of up to four consecutive working days to attend the funeral of his/her grandparent.
11.7.3 An employee will be provided bereavement leave with pay for a period of up to three consecutive working days to attend the funeral of his/her son-in- law, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, daughterbrother-in-law, sister-in-law, niece or brother-in-law, step-parent without loss of regular nephew.
11.7.4 An employee will be provided bereavement leave with pay for five (5) consecutive calendar days, one of which must be the day of the funeral, provided pay shall not be given for any of such five (5) days which falls on a holiday or which does not fall on a regular working day.
(c) An employee with seniority shall be granted bereavement leave in the event of the death of the employee’s aunt, uncle, niece or nephew without loss of regular pay for two (2) consecutive calendar days, one of which must be the day of the funeral, provided pay shall not be given for any of such days which falls on a holiday or which does not fall on a regular working day.
(d) An employee with seniority shall be granted one (1) day bereavement leave which must be the day of the funeral without loss of regular pay in the event of the death of a relative living in the employee’s household. Such a relative shall include a person related by marriage, adoption or common-law.
(e) If the burial does not immediately follow the funeral, the employee may request in writing to use one of the days of leave without loss of regular pay available under 20.01(a), (b), (c) or (d) above at a later date to attend the burialfuneral of his/her aunt or uncle, or the grandparent of his/her current spouse.

Bereavement Leave. (a) An employee with seniority If a death occurs in the immediate family of an Employee when the Employee is at work, or scheduled to go to work, then the Employee shall be granted bereavement leave with pay for the remainder of the Employee’s scheduled shift for that day.
(b) If a death occurs in the immediate family as set out in Article 1.01(h) of an employee, the employee shall be granted five (5) consecutive days of bereavement leave commencing on the calendar day following the day of the death of the family member except for the death of an employee’s step-grandchildren or step-grandparents in which case the employee shall be granted three (3) consecutive days bereavement leave commencing on the calendar day following the day of the death of the family member. Bereavement Leave. 35.01 Upon application an employee shall be granted seven (a7) consecutive calendar days leave of absence without loss of salary or benefits, one of which shall be the day of the funeral in the event of the death of a mother, father, person in loco parentis, spouse, son, daughter, brother, sister or grandchild. Additional bereavement leave may be granted under Article 35.05. For clarification purposes of the article, spouse shall mean a husband or a wife. It shall also mean an individual who has been residing with the employee for a period of not less than one year and has been publicly represented as the employee’s common-law partner.
35.02 Upon application, an employee shall be granted five (5) consecutive calendar days leave of absence without loss of salary or benefits, one of which shall be the day of the funeral, in the event of the death of the employee's mother-in-law, father-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, grandparents, spouse's grandparents, or other relatives living in the employee's household. Additional bereavement leave may be granted under Article 35.05.

(c) An employee with seniority shall be granted bereavement leave in the event of the death of the employee’s aunt, uncle, niece or nephew ex-spouse without loss of regular pay pay, for two a maximum of one (21) consecutive calendar days, one of day which must be the day date of the funeral, provided pay shall not be given for any of such days which falls on a holiday or which does not fall on a regular working day.
(d) 35.05 An employee with seniority shall may be granted one a maximum of an additional three (13) day days bereavement leave which must be at the day discretion of the Employer for the purpose of travel to attend the funeral without loss of regular pay any relative set out in this Article or to carry out a family responsibility which the event of employee may be obliged to perform following the death of a relative living in the employee’s household. Such a relative shall include a person related by marriage, adoption or common-lawsuch relative.
(e) If the burial does not immediately follow the funeral, the employee may request in writing to use one of the days of leave without loss of regular pay available under 20.01(a), (b), (c) or (d) above at a later date to attend the burial.

Bereavement Leave. (b) Notwithstanding, an employee’s paid leave entitlement for such circumstances will not continue beyond the expiration of seven (7) calendar days commencing midnight following the death. In exceptional circumstances, upon request of the employee, the Employer may agree to divide the period of the bereavement leave or change the commencement date of the leave.
(c) Every employee shall be entitled to special leave without loss of regular pay up to a maximum of one (1) working day in the event of death of the employee's brother-in-law, law or sister-in-law, and may be granted up to two (2) days for travel and shall be paid for those travel days which are not regularly scheduled days of rest.
(d) Every employee shall be entitled to one (1) day leave without pay, for the purpose of attending the funeral of an aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, xxxxxx parents of the spouse of the employee or brother-grandparents of the spouse of the employee. An employee may be granted up to two (2) days for travel without pay for the purposes of attending the funeral.
(e) The “in-law, ” and “step-parent without loss of regular pay relative” relationships referred to in this provision will only qualify for five (5) consecutive calendar days, one of which must be bereavement leave in cases where it is a current relationship at the day time of the funeral, provided pay shall not be given for any of such five (5) days which falls on a holiday or which does not fall on a regular working daydeath.

b) consecutive calendar days, one of which must be is in an intimate relationship with the day of the funeral, provided pay shall not be given for any of such days which falls on a holiday or which does not fall on a regular working day.
(d) An employee and has been living with seniority shall be granted that employee at least one (1) day bereavement year; or
c) is a person who shares natural or adoptive children with the employee and is living with the employee. A spouse includes a person of the same sex. The Employer may approve additional unpaid leave, such approval not being unreasonably denied, where the employee requests such leave which must be in order to attend the day funeral. Prior to such leave being granted, the employee, upon request by the Employer for same, will provide the Employer with the location, date and contact number of the funeral without loss of regular pay home. Failure to provide this requested information may result in the event aforementioned additional leave being denied. Bereavement pay shall be paid only for days upon which the employee was scheduled to work. Bereavement leave will be taken between the date of death and the day after the funeral except upon the death of a relative living spouse or child in which bereavement leave will be taken during the employee’s householdtwo week period following the date of death. (c) The Company will also grant the day off, if required, with regular pay, to attend the funeral of a brother-in-law, sister-in-law, or current spouse’s brother-in-law, stepsister-parent without loss in-law and grandparents, son-in-law, daughter-in-law (the current husband or wife of regular pay for five (5) consecutive calendar days, one of which must be the day of the funeral, provided pay shall not be given for any of such five (5) days which falls on a holiday daughter or which does not fall on a regular working day.
(c) An employee with seniority shall be granted bereavement leave in the event of the death of the employee’s aunt, uncle, niece or nephew without loss of regular pay for two (2) consecutive calendar days, one of which must be the day of the funeral, provided pay shall not be given for any of such days which falls on a holiday or which does not fall on a regular working dayson).
(d) An Common Law Spouse” in (a) shall mean a person who the employee with seniority shall advised the Company was a common law spouse at least seven (7) days before commencement of the leave.
(e) In the event that the burial or service is at a later time from the initial bereavement leave of 10.01 (a) and (c), employee will be granted allowed one (1) day bereavement leave which must be the day with pay, at his/her regular rate of the funeral without loss of regular pay in the event of the death of a relative living in the employee’s household. Such a relative shall include a person related by marriage, adoption or common-lawto attend such burial service.

26.04 An employee may be granted a maximum of an additional three (e3) If days bereavement leave at the burial does not immediately follow discretion of the Employer for the purpose of travel to attend the funeral, memorial service, other commemorative gathering, burial or interment of any relative set out in this Article or to carry out a family responsibility which the employee may request in writing be obliged to use one perform following the death of the days of leave without loss of regular pay available under 20.01(a), (b), (c) or (d) above at a later date to attend the burialsuch relative.
