Common use of Bereavement Leave Clause in Contracts

Bereavement Leave. Any employee who notifies the Hospital as soon as possible following bereavement will be granted bereavement leave for four (4) consecutive working days off without loss of regular pay from regularly scheduled hours in conjunction with the death of the spouse, child, or parent. For the purpose of bereavement leave, leave the relationships specified in the preceding clause are deemed to include a common-law spouse and a partner of the same sex.

An employee who is on vacation and becomes entitled to bereavement leave in accordance with this clause shall, upon request, be allowed to substitute bereavement leave for vacation. A regular or project employee shall normally be granted one (1) regularly scheduled work day of bereavement leave without loss of salary or wages in the case of the death of an employee's brother-in-law, sister-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandparentgrandparent or grandchild or any one for whom the employee is the primary caregiver. Where burial occurs outside of the city, grandchildsuch leave shall also include reasonable traveling time, brother-in-law, sister-in-law or grandparent the latter not to exceed an additional two (2) days. All other categories of spouse. An employee shall employees will be granted one (1) day eligible for unpaid bereavement leave without loss in accordance with the Employment Standards Code of regular pay from regularly scheduled hours to attend Manitoba. Note: Common Law relationships and family members are recognized for the funeral purposes of his or her aunt or uncle, niece or nephew. The Hospital, in its discretion, may extend such leave with or without pay. Where an employee does not qualify under the above-noted conditions, the Hospital may, nonetheless, grant a paid bereavement leave. Any employee who notifies the Hospital as soon as possible following a bereavement will be granted bereavement leave for four (4) consecutive working days off without loss of regular pay from regularly scheduled hours hours, in conjunction with the death of the spouse, child, or parent. Any employee who notifies the Hospital as soon as possible following a bereavement will be granted bereavement leave for three (3) consecutive working days off without loss of regular pay from regularly scheduled hours in conjunction with the death of the a sister, brother, mother-in-law, father-in-law, son- son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, brother-in-law, sister-in-law or grandparent of spouse. An employee shall be granted one (1) day bereavement leave without loss of regular pay from regularly scheduled hours to attend the funeral of his or her aunt or uncle, niece or nephew. The Hospital, Hospital in its discretion, discretion may extend such leave with or without pay. Where an employee does not qualify under the above-above noted conditions, the Hospital may, nonetheless, grant a paid bereavement leave. For the purpose of bereavement leave, the relationships specified in the preceding clause are deemed to include a common-common law spouse and a partner of the same sex.

Any employee who notifies the Hospital as soon as possible following a bereavement will be granted bereavement leave for three twenty-two and a half (322.5) consecutive working days hours off without loss of regular pay from regularly scheduled hours in conjunction with the death of the sister, brother, mother-in-law, father-in-law, son- son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, brother-in-law, sister-in-law law, or grandparent of spouse. An employee shall be granted one seven and a half (17.5) day hours bereavement leave without loss of regular pay from regularly scheduled hours to attend the funeral of his or her aunt or uncle, niece or nephew. The Hospital, in its discretion, may extend such leave with or without pay. Where an employee does not qualify under the above-above- noted conditions, the Hospital may, nonetheless, grant a paid bereavement leave. For the purpose of bereavement leave, the relationships specified in the preceding clause are deemed to include a common-law spouse and a partner of the same sex.

An employee may reserve one (1) or all of the days specified above for future use, to attend the funeral or memorial service of the deceased, if that service or memorial service is scheduled for a later date. The Hospital, in its discretion, may extend such leave with or without pay. Where an employee does not qualify under the above-above noted conditions, the Hospital may, nonetheless, grant a paid bereavement leave. For the purpose of bereavement leave, leave the relationships specified in the preceding clause are deemed to include a common-law spouse and a partner of the same sex.

Notwithstanding the above, individuals will be granted flexibility to distribute their bereavement leave entitlement over two (2) occasions, not exceeding their entitlement above, in order to accommodate religious and cultural diversity.

The Hospital, in its discretion, may extend such leave with or without pay. Where an employee does not qualify under the above-noted conditions, the Hospital may, nonetheless, grant a paid bereavement leave. For the purpose of bereavement leave, the relationships specified in the preceding clause are deemed to include a common-law spouse and a partner of the same sex.

(b) An employee who notifies the Hospital as soon as possible following a bereavement will be granted bereavement leave for up to three (3) consecutive calendar days off, brotherwithout loss of their regular earnings for their scheduled hours in conjunction with the day of the funeral for an immediate family member. (c) An employee who notifies the Hospital as soon as possible following a bereavement will be granted bereavement leave for up to one (1) calendar day bereavement leave without loss of regular earnings to attend the funeral of, or a memorial service (or equivalent), for an aunt, uncle, niece or nephew. (d) The leave provided for in this article must be taken within seven (7) consecutive calendar days of the funeral of the deceased. (e) Immediate family, for the purposes of this Article, shall mean mother-in-in- law, father-in-law, son- in-law, daughter-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, brother-in-law, sister-in-law or and grandparent of spouse. An employee shall be granted one , step-parents, son-in-law, and daughter-in- law. (1f) day bereavement leave without loss “Spouse” for the purposes of regular pay from regularly scheduled hours this Article, refers to attend the funeral of his employee’s current spouse (including same sex spouse), or her aunt or uncle, niece or nephew. The Hospital, in its discretion, may extend such leave with or without pay. Where an employee does not qualify under the above-noted conditions, the Hospital may, nonetheless, grant a paid bereavement leave. For the purpose of bereavement leave, the relationships specified in the preceding clause are deemed to include a common-law spouse (including same sex spouse), and a partner of the same sexdoes not include legally separated or divorced spouses.

The Hospital, in its discretion, may extend such leave with or without pay. Where an employee does not qualify under the above-noted conditions, the Hospital may, nonetheless, grant a paid bereavement leave. For the purpose of bereavement leave, the relationships specified in the preceding clause are deemed to include a common-law spouse and a partner of the same sex. Notwithstanding the above, individuals will be granted flexibility to distribute their bereavement leave entitlement over two (2) occasions, not exceeding their entitlement above, in order to accommodate religious and cultural diversity.

Bereavement Leave. Any employee who notifies the Hospital as soon as possible following a bereavement will be granted bereavement leave for four (4) consecutive working days off without loss of regular pay from regularly scheduled hours in conjunction with the death of the spouse, child, or parent.
