Bikesharing. In the event a bike sharing system becomes operational within the vicinity of the development, Applicant will provide space in the Project for a bikesharing docking station (or similar provision required by the bike sharing system) to enable this form of transportation to be used by employees and visitors at the Project. The location of this docking station will be selected in concert with MCDOT, based upon the requirements of the bike sharing system in the County, but in any case will be located in a highly-visible, publicly accessible, convenient and well-lit on the Property. The Applicant will pay the capital cost of such station and five years of operating expenses. Applicant will take other actions in concert with MCDOT to promote use of bikesharing among employees and visitors at the Project, in order to accomplish the objectives of the TMD.

Applicant must provide conduit to provide power in the event of insufficient solar access. The County is not obligated to make a bikeshare station operational unless the Applicant pays 5 years of operating expenses. After 5 years, the County may, based on review and analysis of usage and performance, move, relocate or discontinue service of the bikeshare station. The Applicant's payment is due prior to issuance of the first above-grade building permit or within 30 days of MCDOT issuing an invoice for the lump sum payment of capital costs of the station(s), whichever is earlier. Applicant must take other actions with MCDOT to promote use of bikeshare among residents, employees, and visitors at the Project, to accomplish the objectives of the TMD.

Instead, MCDOT will select an off-site location for the station based upon the requirements of the bikesharing system in the County, in a highly visible, publicly accessible, and well-lit location near the Project. Bikesharing. The Applicant must design space in the Woodmont Avenue streetscape area adjacent to the Project to accommodate one bikesharing docking station (or similar provision required by the County) (15 bikes) to enable this form of transportation to be used by employees and visitors at the Project. The location of this docking station must be selected in concert with MCDOT, based upon the requirements of the bikesharing system in the County, and in a highly visible, publicly accessible, convenient and well-lit near the Property. Conduit must be provided in the event of insufficient solar access. A typical station with 15 docks requires a space of 43 feet by 10 feet. The Applicant will pay the capital cost of the on-site bikeshare station. To the extent necessary, Applicant must allow MCDOT or its contractors access to the Project to install, service and maintain the bikeshare stations. The Applicant will also contribute $56,300 for the capital cost of one off-site bikeshare station. Applicant must take other actions in concert with MCDOT to promote use of bikesharing among employees and visitors at the Project, in order to accomplish the objectives of the TMD.

Bikesharing. Residents and their visitors, as well as employees of the Project, will be able to use bikeshare to quickly connect between the Project and transit, as well as a variety of destinations throughout the downtown Bethesda area, without using a private vehicle. Support for bikeshare by this Project will: 1) enable provision of an adequate, safe and efficient transportation system in the Bethesda TMD and CBD, 2) assist in achieving the mode share goals of the Sector Plan, 3) enhance connectivity and mobility options, and 4) ensure the continued sustainability and livability of the area. Applicant will be required to contribute to the cost of bikeshare facilities and services in the Bethesda TMD in accordance with County Code and other regulations in place at the time of occupancy. Applicant must take other actions in concert with MCDOT to promote use of bikesharing among residents, employees, and visitors at the Project, in order to accomplish the objectives of the TMD.

The Applicant must pay costs associated with preparation of the space. Applicant must allow MCDOT, its contractors or other authorized vendors, access to the Project to install, service and maintain bikeshare station(s). Applicant must provide conduit to the site the event of insufficient solar access. The County maintains full discretion to install, operate, move, relocate or discontinue service of a bikeshare station based on review and analysis of usage, performance, or budget. If an on-site bikeshare station is not provided (due to site constraints, low projected demand generated by the project, or other), racks, repair stations, or other suitable facilities and equipment for the orderly storage of mobility devices, must be provided. Applicant must allow MCDOT or its contractors access to the Project to install, service and maintain the other facilities and equipment. Applicant must provide conduit to provide power in the event of insufficient solar access. Applicant must pay costs associated with preparing the space and for the alternative facilities. The Applicant's payment is due prior to issuance of the first above-grade building permit or within 30 days of MCDOT issuing an invoice for the lump sum payment of capital costs of the station(s), whichever is earlier. Applicant must take other actions with MCDOT to promote use of bikeshare among residents, employees, and visitors at the Project, to accomplish the objectives of the TMD.

Bikesharing. The applicant will coordinate with the MCDOT Chief of Commuter Services, to install a bikeshare station on the Property at a location and at a time mutually agreed upon between the Applicant and the County. The general location of the bikeshare station must be agreed upon prior to the release of the first building permit within Phase One for the lower escarpment, subject to being detailed and finalized in conjunction with the future site plan for that area of the Project. The drawing attached as Exhibit indicates the area within which the parties agree that such bikeshare station will be located and that drawing satisfies the above condition. Such bikeshare station will be detailed and finalized in conjunction with the site plan for that area of the Project. The potential location for the bikesharing docking station discussed above is generally shown on Exhibit “B” attached hereto and incorporated by reference herein.
Bikesharing. Applicant will be required to contribute to the cost of bikeshare facilities and service in the Bethesda TMD in accordance with County Code and other regulations in place at the time of occupancy. Applicant must take other actions in concert with MCDOT to promote use of bikesharing among employees and visitors at the Project, but not Residents, in order to accomplish the objectives of the TMD.
