Common use of Carry Forward of Vacation Clause in Contracts

Carry Forward of Vacation. (a) An employee may carry forward to another year, any proportion of annual leave not taken by him/her in previous years, until by so doing he/she has accumulated a maximum of: (1) One hundred and fifty (150) hours annual vacation, if he/she is eligible for one hundred and fifty (150) hours in one (1) year, (2) One hundred and eighty-seven point five (187.5) hours annual vacation, if he/she is eligible for one hundred and eighty-seven point five (187.5) hours in any year, (3) Two hundred and twenty-five (225) hours annual leave if he/she is eligible for two hundred and twenty-five (225) hours in any year. (b) An employee who has exceeded the carry forward limit in 13.07 (a) will be notified in writing three (3) months in advance of the end of the vacation year, outlining the balance in excess of the carry forward limit. Only these employees who are prohibited from utilizing the excess balance due to requirements of the Employer will be permitted to carry forward the excess balance.
