  • SENIORITY 16.01 Seniority is the length of continuous service in a Bargaining Unit position from the last date of hire with the Board. For the purposes of the initial seniority list the parties acknowledge seniority as previously calculated by the employer.

  • Role of Seniority A reduction in force shall be based on seniority within a department, discipline or specialty, provided that the senior staff have appropriate qualifications and are providing satisfactory service. Whenever possible, an employee shall be given an opportunity to serve the College in some other capacity for which he/she is qualified. This clause applies to all employees, including those on leave at time of reduction of staff.

  • Equal Seniority If two (2) or more employees subject to layoff have equal class seniority, the determination as to who shall be laid off will be made on the basis of the greater hire date seniority, and if that be equal, then the determination shall be made by lot.
