Compensation/Benefits During Leave. During unpaid leave time, an Employee’s wages and other benefits are not paid or accrued except for seniority and health insurance, which will be continued on the same basis as if the Employee continued in active status. The Employee’s portion of health insurance premiums must be paid either through payroll deduction or by direct payment by the Employee to the County at the same time as it would be made if by payroll deduction.

Compensation/Benefits During Leave. ‌ All leaves of absence shall be without pay. Any earned but unused paid leave available to the employee may be substituted for unpaid leave by the employee or employer in accordance with state and federal law during the leave period. No fringe benefits shall be earned during a leave of absence, with the exception of those benefits to which the employee is entitled under the Family and Medical Leave Acts. No leave of absence shall be granted to seek other employment. In addition to the medical leave provided for by state and federal law, employees shall be granted a leave of absence for a total period of up to two (2) years for serious illness or injury after the employee has exhausted accrued sick leave and vacation benefits.
Compensation/Benefits During Leave. At the conclusion of leave, an employee will be restored to the position he/she held at the time the leave began or to an equivalent position with equivalent benefits, pay and other terms and conditions subject to the Layoff and Recall Article. Fringe benefits accrued prior to the leave will not be lost as a result of the leave. However, employees do not accrue additional seniority or employee benefits during the period of leave.

  • RETIREMENT SEVERANCE PAY Any employee who works regularly each week on a permanent part-time basis or on a full-time basis and who has ten or more years of service with the Shaker Heights Board of Education, may elect at the time of his/her retirement from active service (retirement from active service shall mean actual retirement under one of Ohio’s public employee retirement systems or eligibility for retirement under such retirement systems with retirement from the Shaker schools and election to withdraw retirement funds in a lump sum payment) to receive severance pay in an amount equal to: One-fourth (1/4) of his/her unused accumulation at the per diem rate of said employee’s basic contract salary in effect at the time of the last day of employment in Shaker Heights. Supplemental contracts, extended service, overtime or any other compensation will not be included in the calculation.
