Compensation Payment to Host Community. Compensation payment is a feature of some host community agreements that provide some kind of direct payment to offset the intangible effects of the waste management facility. Compensation payment can include the following: • Payments to the host community’s local and regional governments. • Payments to individual residents or businesses in close proximity to the proposed facility. • Payments to the host community’s public liaison committee. • Tax breaks for the host community. • Extra support of local community services such as fire, ambulance, schools and recreational facilities. • Free waste disposal. • Offering jobs at the waste management facility to local residents. • The sponsorship of local recreational sports teams and programs. • Payment of the host community’s costs for monitoring the facility. Table 1 shows examples of some royalty payments to host communities and their governments.   • Special Compensation The Company shall pay to the Executive a lump sum equal to three times the sum of (a) the highest per annum base rate of salary in effect with respect to the Executive during the three-year period immediately prior to the termination of employment plus (b) the Highest Bonus Amount.
