COMPENSATION UPON PROMOTION. (a) Upon promotion, an employee shall receive the salary shown as Level 1 in the salary grade for the new position. Upon confirmation, the employee shall be elevated to Level 2 in the salary grade for this position. Every subsequent year on the employee’s promotional anniversary date they will advance to the next step in their salary range. This will happen automatically unless the City of Reno Human Resources Department is advised by the Chief of Police, or his/her designee, in writing, that the employee will not be receiving a step raise due to performance which does not meet standards.

COMPENSATION UPON PROMOTION. Upon promotion to a higher classification, the new rate of pay shall be either the minimum rate in the class of the promotion to which promoted or that rate within the class which is at least five percent (5%) higher than the rate of pay received under the previous classification, whichever is higher.
COMPENSATION UPON PROMOTION. An employee promoted from rank of Deputy to the rank of Sergeant shall be placed at the step in the range for Sergeant which provides an increase of at least eight (8%) percent over his/her normal hourly salary.
