It typically outlines the criteria for determining whether an employee's service is considered continuous, such as how breaks in service, leaves of absence, or transfers between related entities are treated. By clearly defining continuous employment, this clause ensures both parties understand how employment duration is calculated, which is crucial for determining eligibility for certain benefits, statutory rights, or severance entitlements.
