County Seniority. Seniority County seniority is defined as the total continuous length of continuous service (including paid leave) within with the CountyEmployer from date of last hire. It shall be equal to the time actually spent on the active payroll, plus approved leaves of absence unless otherwise provided in this Agreement. A permanent full-time employee will begin to accumulate seniority upon the expiration of his probationary period, at which time his name will be placed on the seniority list as of his last date of hire as a full-time employee of the Department. County seniority shall be used for determining vacation leave accrual, longevity, and pension credits.

County seniority shall be used to compute length of service (including paid leave) within the Countyfor vacations, layoff and recall, service awards, and other matters or benefits based on length of service. County seniority may be used as a final determining factor in considering an employee for competitive job change when all other factors are equal.
