Common use of Cultural and Ceremonial Leave Clause in Contracts

Cultural and Ceremonial Leave. (a) The Employer shall approve attendance during working hours by an employee of Aboriginal or Xxxxxx Xxxxxx Islander descent at any Aboriginal community meetings except the Annual General Meetings of Aboriginal community organisations at which the election of office bearers will occur. (b) An employee of Aboriginal or Xxxxxx Strait Islander descent may use accrued annual or other leave to attend Annual General Meetings of Aboriginal community organisations at which the election of office bearers will occur. (c) Ceremonial leave of up to 2 days (non-accumulative) paid leave shall be granted to an employee of Aboriginal or Xxxxxx Xxxxxx Islander descent for ceremonial purposes connected with the death of a member of the immediate family or extended family (provided that no employee shall have an existing entitlement reduced as a result of this clause) or for other ceremonial obligations under Aboriginal and Xxxxxx Strait Islander law. (d) Ceremonial leave granted under this clause is in addition to other leave entitlements.

(b) An employee of Aboriginal or Xxxxxx Strait Islander descent may use accrued annual or other leave to attend Annual General Meetings of Aboriginal community organisations at which the election of office bearers will occur. (c) 79.3 Ceremonial leave of up to 2 days (non-accumulative) paid leave shall without pay may be granted to an employee Employee of Aboriginal or Xxxxxx Xxxxxx Islander descent for ceremonial purposes purposes: (a) connected with the death of a member of the immediate family or extended family (provided that no employee shall Employee will have an existing entitlement reduced as a result of this clause); or (b) or for other ceremonial obligations under Aboriginal and or Xxxxxx Strait Xxxxxx Islander law. (d) 79.4 Ceremonial leave granted under this clause is in addition to compassionate leave granted under any other leave entitlementsprovision of the Agreement.
