Such paid leave will be limited to three (3) regular work days within a period of five (5) days starting on the day designated by the employee within seven (7) days of the death. In no case shall payment be made for more than the three (3) days described above; provided, however, that in the event an employee meeting the requirements listed above is absent from work because of the death of a xxxxxx child residing in the home, or of the employee's child, spouse, or stepchild or domestic partner or child of domestic partner the employee will be compensated for an additional two (2) work days for time lost by reason of each such absence within a period of seven (7) days starting on the day designated by the employee within seven (7) days of the death. In the case of an employee on swing, rotating or continuous shift, the above payment will be made for time lost during the employee's established five-day week. Employees will be compensated on the basis of their rate of record and in addition night-turn bonus where applicable, on the date before such absence. In order to qualify as a domestic partner, the relationship must meet the definition of Domestic Partner as defined in the NGC Domestic Partner Plan Details. The in-law relationship will terminate for purposes of this Paragraph 7. upon divorce or annulment (i.e., legal dissolution) of the connecting marriage which creates the in- law relationship to the employee; and the in-law relationship will terminate upon death and remarriage, that is, in the event of the death of the employee’s mother-party with the connecting in-law, father-in-law, grandparents, or grandchildren, where the decedent was not living in the employee’s household, the employee shall be entitled to one day of leave of absence with pay. An additional two days leave may be granted by the Agency/Department Head and charged law relationship to the employee's accrued sick leave balance in , the event that onein-way travel in excess law relationship will not terminate until the remarriage of 300 road miles from the employee's residence is requiredsurviving spouse.
