Acting Assignment. (a) For the purpose of this Agreement, acting assignment means the assignment of an employee on an acting basis to a Postmaster or Senior Assistant position which is at a higher classification level than the position to which she is appointed. An employee will perform the duties of the higher classification level that may be required during the acting assignment in order to be entitled to receive the acting pay.
(b) An acting assignment in an office shall be offered in the following order:
(i) To the qualified and readily available employee in the office on the basis of first opportunity to the employee who works the greatest number of regularly scheduled hours per week, last opportunity to the employee who works the least number of regularly scheduled hours per week.
(ii) Where two (2) or more employees are working the same number of hours per week, the opportunity shall first be offered to the employee with the longest continuous employment in that Post Office, save that an employee who was formerly full time and whose hours were reduced in accordance with Clause 12.05(a)(i) shall have priority.
(iii) To a qualified and readily available employee within a fifty (50) km radius of the office who has notified the Corporation in writing of her interest. If there is more than one (1) qualified employee, the opportunity shall be offered to the employee with the longest continuous employment in the bargaining unit.
(iv) If there is no such employee, the position may then be filled by other means. However, before offering the position to a person who is not an indeterminate employee of the Corporation, the position shall be offered to the qualified term employee in that office who has continuous employment. Except as a result of granting leave under a provision of this Agreement, acting assignments shall not normally be in excess of twelve (12) months. Exceptional cases shall be a matter of consultation with the Corporation and the Branch President concerned.
Acting Assignment. An acting assignment is one where an ASF Member is temporarily assigned to fill a position when the incumbent is on leave or is expected to return to the position.
Acting Assignment. An acting assignment (a temporary assignment of a permanent employee into another job classification) may be made in writing by the Superintendent when it is in the best interest of the district. Assignments shall not be made for more than one year, and the employee may refuse the acting assignment. The employee will receive the rate of pay for the position being filled, but will not receive less than their former base rate of pay. Employees who accept acting assignments will return to their former position when the acting assignment is concluded. The former position is not considered vacant while the employee is on acting assignment. A newly hired replacement for an incumbent employee who accepts an acting assignment shall be considered a probationary employee and may be discharged when the acting assignment has been completed and the incumbent returns to the position.
Acting Assignment. Employees backfilling in other CUPE Bargaining Units (i.e. 905.20 and 905.21) shall continue to accrue seniority in accordance with Article 11, shall retain all rights and entitlements afforded under the Part-time (905.22) collective agreement and shall be paid in accordance with the applicable collective agreement. Such acting assignment(s) shall not exceed twenty-four (24) months, unless extended by mutual agreement between the parties.
Acting Assignment. The placement of a teacher into a position – usually permanent position – for not more than one (1) school year. Permanent positions and/or newly created position openings are filled on an “acting assignment” basis if they occur after the first fifteen (15) school days of the school year. As an exception, an employee hired into a position during the first fifteen (15) school days, which was a known vacancy at the end of the previous school year and for which PIR candidates were available, will be in an acting assignment. An “acting assignment” expires at the close of the current school year and the position becomes subject to the normal PIR or recruiting process. Experience in an acting assignment shall not be used as a qualification requirement.
Acting Assignment. An acting assignment shall only be made by Command personnel (Lieutenant or above) and shall be in writing. The two (2) hours acting assignment for which an employee does not receive the rate of the higher classification shall only be used in emergency situations, for lunch periods and/or breaks. Employees so ordered shall receive the rate of the higher classification. In instances of temporary acting assignments within the various divisions and units, subject to the needs of the service, Management will consider seniority. The duration of an Acting Assignment shall be limited to one (1) year. By mutual agreement, the parties may extend the one (1) year limitation. Any disputes with respect to this provision shall be subject to the Grievance Procedure.
Acting Assignment. An employee who is assigned temporarily to a position within a higher classification, who meets the minimum qualifications of this classification, and who will be performing the majority of duties that indicate the distinguishing characteristics of a higher classification shall be placed on the same range and step to which he/she would have been promoted or upon promotion. Such increase shall not be greater than ten percent (10%) unless the assignment is greater than six (6) months.
Acting Assignment. Any principal who is appointed to an interim position covered by this agreement will be returned to the same job held at the time the acting assignment began in the event of a termination of the acting assignment. The provisions of any other collective bargaining agreement will apply to the reassignment.
Acting Assignment. Assignments to fill a position vacant due to a separation, extended illness or leave without pay in a job classification higher than the one held by the employee.
Acting Assignment. When an employee is temporarily assigned to work two (2) or more consecutive hours in a non-represented or executive position, they shall receive five percent (5%) above their factored rate of pay for all hours worked. Temporary acting assignments shall not exceed six (6) months unless mutually agreed upon.
