Uses of Sick Leave a. Sick leave shall be accrued before being taken, provided that an employee who participates in a sick leave pool shall not be prohibited from using sick leave otherwise available to the employee through the sick leave pool. b. Sick leave shall be authorized for the following: 1. The employee's personal illness or exposure to a contagious disease, which would endanger others. 2. The employee's personal appointments with a health care provider. 3. The illness or injury of a member of the employee's immediate family, at the discretion of the supervisor. Approval of requests for use of reasonable amounts of sick leave for caring for a member of the employee's immediate family shall not be unreasonably withheld. "Immediate family" means the spouse and the grandparents, parents, brothers, sisters, children, and grandchildren of both the employee and the spouse, and dependents living in the household.
Use of Sick Leave Sick leave is available the first day of the pay period following the pay period in which it was earned, and is taken in units of one-tenth (1/10) of one hour. Use of sick leave is subject to the approval of the appointing authority. Upon request of an employee, the appointing authority may allow the substitution of three (3) or more days of sick leave for paid vacation, provided the employee furnishes a doctor's statement or other satisfactory evidence that the employee was ill or injured for three (3) or more consecutive days.
Granting of Sick Leave An employee shall be granted sick leave with pay when he or she is unable to perform his or her duties because of illness or injury provided that:
Reporting of Sick Leave The employee will call in sick or returning in accordance with Article 14.05 to the designated employer for purposes of payment. For purposes of notification of absence, the employee will notify the appropriate home in accordance with Article 14.05 of their absence that shift.
Accumulation of Sick Leave The unused portion of an Employee's sick leave shall accrue for her future benefit, up to a maximum of one hundred and thirty (130) days.
Sick Leave Provisions (A) Sick Leave Defined Sick leave means the period of time an employee is permitted to be absent from work with full pay by virtue of being sick, disabled, exposed to contagious disease, or under examination or treatment of a physician, chiropractor, or dentist, or because of an accident for which compensation is not payable under the Worker's Compensation Act. (B) Amount of Sick Leave Sick leave shall be granted to employees on the basis of one and two-third (1 2/3) days for every month of service. In any one calendar year when an employee has not had sick leave, or only a portion thereof, the employee shall be entitled to an accrual of all the unused portion of sick leave up to a maximum of 160 working days for their future benefits. Employees at maximum accumulation of 160 or more sick days shall accumulate at one half day per month effective January 1, 1993. Employees who have accumulated 160 days or more and who become ill in the year preceding retirement will be allotted a maximum of twenty (20) days to maintain their entitlement. A deduction shall be made from accumulated sick leave of all normal working days (exclusive of Statutory Holiday) absent for sick leave as defined in (A) and Article 25 (Supplementation of Compensation). The PEBT LTD Plan shall be fully integrated with the sick leave plan so that an employee will be entitled to use sick leave up to the date the employee is eligible to collect LTD (80 work days) at which time sick leave usage shall cease. (C) Illness in the Family In the case of illness at the employee's residence and/or a medical emergency/procedure at a hospital of a family member where no one other than the employee can provide for the needs of the ill person, the employee, after notifying their supervisor, shall be entitled to a maximum of eight (8) days per calendar year when supported by a medical certificate. In the event that a non-resident parent requires support due to a serious medical condition as confirmed by a medical practitioner, such time will be provided under the Family Illness provisions of this Article.
Vacation and Sick Leave During the Term, Executive shall be entitled to (a) sick leave in accordance with the Company’s policies applicable to similarly situated executive officers of the Company from time to time and (b) 4 weeks paid vacation each calendar year (up to 40 hours of which may be carried forward to a succeeding year).
