Effect of Absence on Seniority, Service and Benefit Continuation. (Full-time Employees only) Unless otherwise provided in the Collective Agreement: a. It is understood that during an approved absence not paid by the Employer not exceeding thirty (30) continuous calendar days or during any approved absence paid by the Employer, both seniority and service will accrue. b. During an absence not paid by the Employer exceeding thirty (30) continuous calendar days credit for service for purposes of salary increment, vacation, sick leave, or any other benefits under any provisions of the Collective Agreement or elsewhere, shall be suspended, the benefits concerned appropriately reduced on a pro-rata basis and the employee’s anniversary date adjusted accordingly. In addition, the employee may continue on certain benefit plans by making the full payment of premiums for any Dental and/or Extended Health Care benefits in which he/she is participating for the period of absence. c. It is further understood that during such leave of absence not paid by the Employer exceeding thirty (30) continuous calendar days, credit for seniority for purposes of promotion, demotion, transfer or lay-off shall accrue for a period of twelve (12) months during any unpaid absence. d. For absences due to a disability resulting in WSIB benefits, an affected employee will accrue seniority and be eligible for insured benefits in accordance with WSIB Act.

Notwithstanding this provision, seniority shall accrue for a period of twenty-four (24) months if an employee’s absence is due to a disability resulting in WSIB benefits.

The Sheriff’s Office will be reimbursed for marine law enforcement patrols, boater education, and boat inspections conducted throughout the County.

  • Transition to Retirement 24.1 An Employee may advise their Employer in writing of their intention to retire within the next five years and participate in a retirement transition arrangement. 24.2 Transition to retirement arrangements may be proposed and, where agreed, implemented as: (a) a flexible working arrangement (see clause 16 (Flexible Working Arrangements)); (b) in writing between the parties; or (c) any combination of the above. 24.3 A transition to retirement arrangement may include but is not limited to: (a) a reduction in their EFT; (b) a job share arrangement; or (c) working in a position at a lower classification or rate of pay. 24.4 The Employer will consider, and not unreasonably refuse, a request by an Employee who wishes to transition to retirement: (a) to use accrued Long Service Leave (LSL) or Annual Leave for the purpose of reducing the number of days worked per week while retaining their previous employment status; or (b) to be appointed to a role which that has a lower hourly rate of pay or hours (post transition role), in which case: (i) the Employer will preserve the accrual of LSL at the time of reduction in salary or hours; and (ii) where LSL is taken or paid out in lieu on termination, the Employee will be paid LSL hours at the applicable classification and grade, and at the preserved hours, prior to the post transition role until the preserved LSL hours are exhausted.

  • Educational Benefits The Employer agrees to provide educational benefits to employees that are in permanent status as of the first day of the quarter they are registering in accordance with the Employer’s space-available tuition waiver policy and employee 50% operating fee tuition waiver policy, to include:

  • ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS The Executive shall receive the following additional compensation and welfare and fringe benefits:

  • Continuation of Benefits (i) For a period of three years following the Termination of Employment (the “Benefit Continuation Period”), the Employee shall be treated as if Employee had continued to be an executive for all purposes under the Company’s health insurance plan and dental insurance plan; or if the Employee is prohibited from participating in such plans, the Company shall otherwise provide such benefits. Employee shall be responsible for any employee contributions for such insurance coverage. Following the Benefit Continuation Period, Employee shall be entitled to receive continuation coverage under Part 6 of Title I of ERISA (“COBRA Benefits”) by treating the end of this period as the applicable qualifying event (i.e., as a termination of employment) for purposes of ERISA Section 603(2)) and with the concurrent loss of coverage occurring on the same date, to the extent allowed by applicable law. (ii) For the Benefit Continuation Period, the Company shall maintain in force, at its expense, the Employee’s life insurance in effect under the Company’s voluntary life insurance benefit plan as of the Change-in-Control Date or as of the date of Termination of Employment, whichever coverage limits are greater. For purposes of clarification, the portion of the premiums in respect of such voluntary life insurance for which Employee and the Company are responsible, respectively, shall be the same as the portion for which the Company and Employee are responsible, respectively, immediately prior to the date of Termination of Employment or the Change-in-Control Date, as applicable. (iii) For the Benefit Continuation Period, the Company shall provide short-term and long-term disability insurance benefits to Employee equivalent to the coverage that the Employee would have had Employee remained employed under the disability insurance plans applicable to Employee on the date of Termination of Employment, or, at the Employee’s election, the plans applicable to Employee as of the Change-in-Control Date. Should Employee become disabled during such period, Employee shall be entitled to receive such benefits, and for such duration, as the applicable plan provides. For purposes of clarification, the portion of the premiums in respect of such short-term and long-term disability benefits for which Employee and the Company are responsible, respectively, shall be the same as the portion for which Employee and the Company are responsible, respectively, immediately prior to the date of Termination of Employment or the Change-in-Control Date, as applicable. (iv) Notwithstanding anything in this Agreement to the contrary, in no event shall the provision of in-kind benefits pursuant to this Section 3 during any taxable year of Employee affect the provision of in-kind benefits pursuant to this Section 3 in any other taxable year of Employee.

  • Continuation of Services The Contractor shall work with the current Subcontractor prior to cancellation date to ensure all consumer needs are identified and appropriate placements and transportation needs, as applicable, have been arranged. The Subcontractor shall maintain communication with the Contractor on the process of transferring consumers until all consumers are placed.

  • Effective Date of Benefit Termination Medical, dental and life coverage termination will take effect on the first of the month following the loss of eligible employee or dependent status. Disability benefit coverage terminations will take effect on the day following loss of eligible employee status.
