Approved Absence means an absence from active service with an Affiliated Employer by reason of a vacation or leave of absence approved by the Affiliated Employer, any absence from active service with an Affiliated Employer while employment rights with the Affiliated Employer are protected by law and any other absence from active service with an Affiliated Employer which does not constitute a termination of employment with the Affiliated Employer under rules adopted by the Affiliated Employer and applied in a uniform and nondiscriminatory manner.

Approved Absence means an approved leave of absence (including active military service), short term and long term disability (including employees on workers' compensation).

Approved Absence means the absence of a child from a children detention school under section 202, 203, 204, 205 or 207, as the case may be;]

Approved Absence means (a) any period of absence from work (other than any such absence on account of a period of Disability), with the approval or direction of the Employer, for up to 12 months and, provided said Employee returns to work for the Employer at such time as the Employer may reasonably require, the Approved Absence may exceed such 12-month period but will not be in excess of 24 months, (b) any period of absence during which the Employee was in military service with the armed forces (including Coast Guard and Merchant Marine Service) if the Employee has reemployment rights under applicable laws and complies with the requirements of the law as to reemployment and is reemployed, and (c) any period of Disability, but (except as provided in the last paragraph of Section 5.5) not to exceed twelve months. An Approved Absence will be disregarded for the purpose of the Plan, and the Employee will be regarded as in the service of the Employer during any period of an Approved Absence.

An Approved Absence also includes any leave of absence in accordance with the requirements of the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993. The Participating Employer or Affiliated Company that employs the Employee shall determine the first and last days of any Approved Absence.

Approved Absence means an Employee's leave without pay for a specified period of time on such terms and conditions and for such reasons as the Employer may determine in its sole discretion, which leave is approved by the Employer in advance and in writing.
