Common use of Family Illness Clause in Contracts

Family Illness. In the case of illness of an immediate family member, as defined in Clause 18.1(b), of an employee, and when no one at the employee's home other than the employee can provide for the needs of the ill person, the employee shall be entitled, after notifying her supervisor, to use up to a maximum of two days paid leave at any one time for this purpose.

Family Illness. The Employer may request a report from a qualified medical practitioner when it appears that a pattern of consistent absence is developing.

In the case of illness of an immediate family member, as defined in Clause 18.1(b), a dependent child or spouse of an employee, and when no one at the employee's home residence other than the employee can provide for the needs of the ill personchild (or the spouse), or the needs of the dependent children the employee shall be entitled, after notifying his/her supervisor, to use up to a maximum of two (2) days paid leave at any one (1) time for this purpose.
